Christian Covington on coming home to play for the BC Lions

I am surprised after earning several $ Million (US) he still has a desire to continue his football career in the CFL at a small fraction of the salary. It sounds like the BC Lions selected Covington in the 2015 CFL Draft knowing full well that he had a reasonable chance of catching on as a starting DT in the NFL. 10 years later, the investment pays off !!

Covington was a very serviceable DLineman in the NFL . His story is similar to Brett Urban of the Ravens and a Cat draft pick .

Since he was drafted by BC in the first place, don’t they hold his CFL rights?
He was born, raised, and played football in Vancouver before going to Rice.

Yes they do hold his rights as he was drafted by them I believe in 2015 . It might be a record for how long a CFL team has actually waited to sign a draft pick .
