Chris Williams Rocks

Wow, what a great find by the Ti-Cats in a player like Chris Williams. Rookie of the year in 2011, Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2012 and a CFL record setting six TD returns and I bet this guy could beat Chad Owens CFL record for combined yards in 2013?? Also, look at Chevon Walker and the potential this guy has and of course we have Martel Mallett if he can stay healthy, Avon Colborne as a good solid vet, I think Avon did a great job last year considering we pulled him out of retirement. Also we have a great QB in Henry Burris and likewise our receivers in Williams,Grant,Fantuz, Stala, Kelly and so on.

Ti-Cat fans our team has some great players and we will get new players this year. I just think they lacked the coaching and motivation last season to win. That last game against Toronto was horrible, especially with Toronto using mainly back ups and a win on the line for the Cats. I am so glad they cleared house and brought in Kent Austin as GM and Head Coach and Condel as Offensive Coach, Orlando Steinauer as Defensive Coach.

Last year Henry Burris had one of his best years ever with over 5000 yards passing and over 40 TD's and we still lost. We need to reshape the Ti-Cat Defense and get back to our old tradition of Tough as Steel Defense, Bend but don't Break and get back to leading the CFL in QB sacks and interceptions, if we can do that along with our offensive power and great special teams there is no reason why we won't be tough to beat in 2013 and beyond!

Just an added note: I noticed that Justin Medlock is now a free agent again? Could we get Medlock back in Cat uniform as punter/kicker?? Or do we stay with Luca Congi and Josh Bartel? Hey maybe get Ozzie as Special Teams Coach??

We will enjoy him for one more season :?

Title of this thread is a bit misleading considering you only talked about Chris for 3 lines. Maybe change the title to “Ti-Cats 2013 outlook?” or something.

Also Ozzie, is already a special team coach with the team.

Sorry..just like most Cat fans I got carried away on a thought line? I'm new to the Cat chat but I've been a fan and supporter of the Cats for 48 years so give me some breathing room here?

The one thing I noticed about Ti-Cat fans not all but some are quick to judge and pass personal attacks not on this one I mentioned about Chris Williams and got carried away on the team but on other posts I have seen in the past.

The fact is we are all Ti-Cat fans here people, we want the best for our team but lets hold back the judgement and personal attacks and stay with the story Yes Chris Williams Rocks I agree but hey he is one player of many on this great team and soon to be new players added that will turn the Cats into a great team.

So Sorry if I'm long winded and slide off topic (I'm only human)

TI-CATS, EAT EM RAW in 2013!!!

That all depends on a) whether he thinks he’ll be able to land an actual roster spot and noit just a practice roster spot on an NFL team as a returner (not likely as a receiver given his size, but you never know), b) whether he would prefer to be a big part of a team for less money vs. a return specialist for probably more (much more?) money, and c) whether the Ticats will open the purse strings to make sure he doesn’t defect to another CFL team.

I hope for his sake he makes an NFL roster, as he’d make a lot more money there. But if not, the Ticats better not let him slip away. The guy was responsible for almost a fifth of our points this past year, almost a quarter if you include all the converts that his TDs resulted in; that type of point production is usually only provided by kickers. If he’s still in the league and isn’t one of the top two of three non-QB players, I’d be very, very surprised.

I personally think Chris has an excellent chance of being a starting slot receiver for a NFL team with the right system (think New England…put WIlliams in Welkers spot and oh boy…).

I say this because of what Andrew Hawkins was able to achieve this season. Hawkins worked his freaking ass off trying to make it to the big leagues and then when he finally was given his chance to play receiver for the Bengals…he shined. If some of you remember, Hawkins was a contestant on Michael Irvin’s reality TV show “4th and Long”. He then ended up in the CFL with the Alouettes where he quickly made a name for himself as a play maker. Marv Lewis and the Bengals finally decided to ignore his size and just give him a chance. Boy did it pay off. (He had a brief stint with the Rams before).

2012 stats
Andrew Hawkins: 5’7, 175lbs
51 catches
533 yards
4 tds
24 first downs

After watching Chris for two seasons…I just can’t see how teams can ignore his raw talent and most of all his SPEED. Find me a NFL DB who could match WIlliams stride for stride across the field. I have no doubt that with the right system, Williams could catch 75+ passes and maybe even eclipse 1000 yards.

Oh yea…not to mention he is also a wizard when it comes to kick returns. What else could the NFL want???

I hope you’re right for his sake. He has amazing athletic ability, and seems to have an incredibile work ethic. But it isn’t his height that worries me; it’s his weight. At 155 lbs, he might be a bit more at risk than other smaller receivers.

"Also Ozzie, is already a special team coach with the team."

And I hope this new coaching staff keeps Ozzie. He did an amazing job with the kickers last year.

Speaking selfishly, I hope the NFL needs a lot more, so that we can keep him a Tiger cat. We've been missing his kind of talent for a LONG time here.

Speaking selfishly, I hope that Chris signs with the Baltimore Ravens if he does go to the NFL because I never want to have to cheer against this guy!
