Interesting that we would release Garrett with both Sheets and Sanders futures with the team very much up in the air
Did he have NFL interest?
Just curious.
Who…Garrett? Highly unlikely. He came off injury and saw limited action with umm…limited success.
I have to think the Riders believe that they can sign Sanders or some other FA if they are letting Garret go. I am more surprised Milt Collins got let go.
They now sit at 69 players (not sure what they have / if they have exemptions at the moment), and limits are at 75 in the off season, so it is not a horrible move. They get that first day crack at free-agents, and if something falls through, they can re-sign a released player before they clear waivers.
Hopefully Sanders sticks around. Maybe a bigger role with our team will keep him interested.
Garrett knew coming in he was a short term emergency when Sheets was injured.
Sanders spent some time in the doghouse last season. Although he is very talented and proved it who knows what is going on behing closed doors.
I would guess that when Sanders hit the dog house and Sheets was running wild Taman and co, were manuversing several RBs and hybrid backs onto the neg list.
The Riders acqired Matt Brown from Temple. Spent time in Tampa Bay TC before signing with the risers in AUG spending the season on the 9 game. was the ultimate hybrid back in the Big east at 5'5 a super scat back and return specialist for punts and Kick offs and ran up some crazy all purpose numbers rushing and returning over his career.
Riders put him on the 9 game so he would be securley tucked away for 2014 TC. He will get a chnce to show what he has got
