Great this means that starting next week we could start resting some of our starters and get our walking wounded healthy again. Obviously it's too late for this week but next week and the week after we should treat these games like exhibition games and play Calvillo for at most a quarter so he doesnt get rusty then give the rest to Macpherson so he can get some serious practice in game situations in
I agree with Mada7. After this weekends games, start using Adrian more and give AC a quarter or so for the remaining 2 games, to keep the rust off for the Final game.
Let's hope that the ALS don't repeat last years remaining 3 games performances, where they lost each one.
First off I didn't see them winning the conference this year, but they did perform more or less as I expected... still good but not dominant. The most impressive thing is how they've managed to deal with an endless string of injuries to key players and maintain their competitiveness throughout.
That and the Ticats have REALLY underperformed this year, TO stumbled without Ray, and WIN have been a mess.. so we have a bye to the East final.
As for the rest, Calvillo is already talking about how important it is to go into the playoffs on a roll.. playing at peak performance. You don't achieve that resting too many players for too long.. so I expect the starters to start and play most of the way.
If anything, this will allow some injured to wait an extra week (or 2, or 3) before returning.. so that at least is a positive.
They can also afford to bring in guys like Devine & Tuinei without the pressure of games affecting the standings, find out what they can bring you.. they represent that x-factor, unknown quantity, that might make the difference in the playoffs.
Hope they get a lot of touches.
Hope to god Guy is ok before the East final, we really need all phases contributing to have any shot at the GC.
With the way our offense is right now the only receiver we’d maybe rest would be Richardson. It really is at this point only a question of whether or not we rest Calvillo. I really think we should play him enough to keep him sharp but limit his exposure because as much as I like Mcpherson it would be a gigantic blow to this team to lose Calvillo for the eastern final in a game that is meaningless in the standings
Problem is he needs to get familiar with Jennings, Bowling, Tuinei and we need to get Bratton and Richardson rolling with consistancy not to mention we have to get Green back up to speed.
