I cant believe the hate this signing is getting, not just on this thread but all over facebook and twitter, etc. Im not sure what exactly he did to make most of you throw up in the toilet with disgust (seen that common denominator about 25x today).
He played for the Argos and did well. Whoop dee do. Last I checked hes a Tiger cat now and theres people already that want him cut or to fail hard. Why? If anything sickens me its this, to be associated with fans like that. I for one am not with the majority on this one and welcome Mr. Owens to tigertown with open arms, and i'll enjoy watching argo fans and said ticat fans alike cringe and become naucious as Owens has a solid year for us. All im saying is why not give the guy a chance? Theres ticats I didnt like but they gave me reasons to. Adriano Belli for example I hated because of his love for intentionally drawing flags and being a total turd on the field. Arland Bruce I liked until he snubbed me and my buddy for autographs when we stood in his line for about 40 minutes. We were the last ones in his line and time for autographs had just expired and he said something along the lines of alright guys im out. And I said cmon man, its just us 2 left we missed everybody elses autograph waiting to get yours. And he said sorry ive gotta go and security stepped in front of us like we were going to chase him down or something and he left. Prior to that, we had tried to get his autograph at the jack astors charitable function but he ignored us everytime we approached him for an autograph and either went to the back or to sit back with his buddies. From that day on, I cheered for the Ticats but hated Bruce.

What did he do that was different from other ex-Argho players who ended up playing for us (e.g. Medlock, Collaros, Sinkfield, Bruce)?

Most of those players except for Bruce were not long with the Argos prior to joining Cats so the association is not as strong. Owens along with his cocky arrogance was the face of the franchise who inflicted many wounds to our team. We booed and jeered this guy for several years and now we just welcome him with a smile and open arms because he wants a paycheck. To hell with that. He’s still an Argo at heart.
The only consolation is that hopefully he is only a short term rental.
I wonder how many of those sacrilegious jerseys they will sell?

The Owens-#Ticats deal is one-year, team-friendly and likely laden with incentives.
Not that I haven’t met.
I said earlier that it’s going to be weird cheering for him. But I’m willing to give him a chance.
And maybe some players just hide it better, but most, if not all, players are there because they’re getting paid.
If he’s here for a short time, then it’s probably because he isn’t producing to match his paycheque. If he’s here longer, it’ll be because he’s stepped up. And I suspect, if that’s the case, most fans will forgive him for spending so long with those other guys.
What i'm gathering is fans dont like Owens because he was the face of the argos franchise for so long. Thats why I like Owens, former CFL MOP for a reason. The guy can play. And now he plays for the black and gold. This signing made my day
