Chad Kelly vs. Nathan Rourke

Chad Kelly is exceeding most people’s expectations similar to how surprisingly good Nathan Rourke was last year. Considering Chad Kelly’s arm strength, running ability and how well he throws into tight windows, who do you think has a higher ceiling in professional football?

Rourke is 4 years younger … Kelly has had a couple of shots in the NFl … have to pick Rourke

Well that’s not a close vote so far.

Chad has been impressive to date no doubt but to me he hasn’t flashed the talent that Rourke did in basically changing an also ran into a contender. He has played smart and shown some flashes of talent for sure but on a team that is also very talented and arguably more talented than BC was last year.

Chad hasn’t had to do as much for his team to win. That doesn’t mean he can’t. Ask me again at the end of the year. I might have a different opinion when he has played more games.

Yeah, if they were the same age, Kelly’s size and physicality might have swayed my vote. But Rourke last season looked to be performing on a higher level than Kelly is so far this season.

Rourke is younger but wouldn’t you think Kelly is young “enough”?

you do know volume and mute controls exist?

Though Chad Kelly has certainly exceeded my expectations, Nathan Roarke was out there shattering records.

Given that, if Roarke stays in the NFL, there is likelihood he never reaches his true potential, stuck as a backup.

The only thing I will say is that Kelly has been out of football for a while. It’s not easy to comeback after a layoff.

He hasn’t shown that he’s been out of football for awhile.

Well he hasn’t been out of football for a while as of this year. Previous to last year he was but I do recall seeing him start a game last year and playing in the Grey Cup. Before last year you could say that Rourke had been out of football his whole life because he hadn’t played in the CFL.

lol! that’s like saying Rourke was out of football while he was backing up Mike Reilly.

I do know of them. Mine are almost worn out from too much use the last couple of CFL seasons. New equipment is not in the budget these days, so I have to make it last.

i just meant you can mute or adjust volume onscreen on the youtube screen.

Maybe I should have rephrased it. Prior to this season he has not had much playing time.

Day 3 of the Jags camp:

  • Nathan Rourke made a nice touchdown pass in red-zone drills to Seth Williams. It has been a solid camp for Rourke.
A number of backup skill players made nice grabs on Thursday. Elijah Cooks had an impressive back-shoulder catch near the sideline on a throw from Nathan Rourke,

For me the jury is still out on Kelly. His receivers have been outstanding so far this season. Teams now have film on him. We’ll know by November

Yes, both deep throws vs Hamilton were off target and his receivers made acrobatic catches. Now Shiltz on Hamilton had been dropping those long passes on the mark, but isn’t recognized for it. Favoritism is like that in Football.

Kelly is looking pretty good to great for the Argos at QB this season; strong arm & mobile too.

Rourke was on record setting passing pace for CFL QBs last season - off the charts passing; he was also one of the best running QBs in all of US college ball while with Ohio.

Rourke has way more overall QB talent IMO; but Kelly could do more to make me think differently and that they are close in talent.
