You know tho… with the record year the CFL had in TV viewership and game attendance, I dont think I would be wrong to suggest it may be even higher next year. Maybe now is the time the CFL negotiates with a company like EA to get this done. I cant see a CFL football game having the market for a new edition every year maybe every 2-3 with downloadable roster updates to keep it relevant. What do you guys think? If marketed here in Canada well it could even sell the CFL game to some of our youth.

P.S. a sweet price point of 39.99-49.99 wouldnt hurt either

Ticats111, it's in the early stages of development for a release later this year.
EA Canada located in Burnaby, BC is utilizing EA's previous Madden and NCAA game engines to develop the CFL version.
EA Canada is expecting the game to be sold in Canadian markets only and possibly included in CFL promotions as well as Xbox and Sony promotional packages in Canadian stores.
Don't expect much...this will be a low budget transformation of existing games. I did hear rumours a while ago that along with the CFL providing funding, EA Canada would also be a major sponsor (in game ads) as well as Rogers Communication.
The CFLPA has already ok'd the use of players names but expect a lot of NCAA type names (ie, WR #1) as players do shuffle around quite a bit.
I also wouldn't expect much in the form of online support for the game (updates, etc.) as this will be a scaled down version of a typical sports game.

I'll let you know when I hear more...IF I hear more might be a better way of putting it.

You all should play Maximum football. It is a really satisfying CFL sim, and you can download cfl logos and uniforms for the players. And unlike Madden mods, it is a 3 down sim with cfl rules (for the most part). I play /sim a 28 team cfl and I love it.

I hope your for real! WOW! You just got me hyped crazy! Are we talking before the season starts or do you think it will release in the same time frame as Madden does? Anyways thanks for the info and glimmer of hope :smiley:

I hope we’ll see a PC version. I’ll like to play it on Ubuntu as well.

$39-$49? i would pay anything up to the $79 tag on madden 08, and maybe then some.

oh so would i, but i mean how sweet would it be for the people who arent HUGE CFL fans to experience it at a prices that is designed to move as many copies as possible

I definately agree with what LTF said, I have a copy of Maximum Football as well and recomend it to anyone wanting to play a CFL video game.

As a person who used to frequent the Arena League message boards, I remember the numerous posts that flooded thier boards with the idea of a video game. They've had two more with a third one coming up (I believe). Now as annoying as these and expansion threads may be (and trust me they are annoying), the CFL needs a video game, it helped the Arena league and with a gorwing fan base not only here in Canada but through out the entire world. Locally (In Canada) this might also be a huge step in helping the league attract that younger fan base that Mr. Cohon has mentioned numerous times in the first year as league commisioner.
