TORONTO — Sometimes something will happen in the game of football that makes you wonder.
In their regular season finale on Saturday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers looked like they were headed to their first Western Semi-Final in six years. Sergio Castillo had missed on a 61-yard field goal attempt, just a smidge out of his comfort zone and the Alouettes had the ball with 1:05 to play, holding a two-point lead.
That’s presumptuous to assume the Winnipeg Blue Bombers would be playing in their first semi-final in 6 years when the Calgary game wasn’t even played yet, by the way, Calgary won.
Someone has to tell the ‘Simulation’ that WPG have played hard for the first place… while the other had some practice game (including Montral ).
Simulation is based winning values and points based. It does not even consider even if Zach is not playing the next game.
A simulation should be based on the players playing in the playoffs and the values of plays they have made in the current year so far.
for example: Matthew Bett Vs Michael Johnson or the Team 1 DL vs Team 2 DL with the past stats may worth to consider.
Not saying the simulator is perfect or correct, but Winnipeg’s last game wasn’t a practice game for Montreal. They went all out with their starters with the only concession being bringing in Alexander for the second half. Many Als fans don’t consider that to be a drop off although I do. In any event it wasn’t a practice game for Montreal. And why would it be when they knew they had the next week off?
I do not need a useless “Simulator” to inform me that the who just won their th consecutive West division title are legitimate Grey Cup favourites I see my hometown versus in this year’s 111th Grey Cup.
Lest we forget, a 51 yard FG in a swerling windy downpour of rain & hail on the last play of the game only a minute after missing an attempted FG from 61 yards, is a big deal for any, all place kickers regardless of their experiences.
Yes, the wind definitely affected the punt, but to be fair, a FG is more difficult to achieve then a punt in in bad weather conditions that said, in the good ol’ days Bombers had a punter named Bob Cameron who was an exceptional nasty weather punter. If Zema sticks around football long enough he too will understand inclement weather better.
