CFL Pop Up Stadium -Autostade

Pop up stadiums are not a new idea for the CFL. The Alouettes played in the Autostade in the 1960’s and 1970’s. It was also used for soccer. Parts of it still exist today:

It was a bit different than current pop-up stadiums … built for Expo 1967, the main stands were concrete structures, built with the intention to later transport them for use as permanent stands in various locales around Quebec afterwards … the concrete stands were “filled in” with metal seating to “join” them sometime after it became home to the Alouettes in 1968.

They did host the Grey Cup Final back in 1969.
