CFL on ESPN

CFL viewers in the US has got to be increasing, this week ESPN will televise on ESPN 2 Thursday Montreal/Hamilton, Friday Toronto/Edmonton and Sunday Saskatchewan/Ottawa. Saturday Calgary/Winnipeg will be streamed on ESPN 3.

This is no different than any other week on ESPN, which carries every game on one its channels.

No not true, if you say TV channel. - ESPN3 is their on-line internet feed and not a TV channel. But ESPN does carry all CFL games on the internet.

Excited that the games are on ESPN2. But they were always scheduled to air on ESPN2 this weekend. It wasn't additional programming added.

We are just glad that they didn't change from televise to internet on any of the games. They have been known to do that from time to time with live sports programs.

Anyone know where to look up true ratings on ESPN2 ?

I have web searched and I am finding conflicting reports.

113,000 - 282,000

160,000 - 181,000

270,000 - 350,000

138,000 - 190,000

Different sources and reports. No consistent data.

On Fridays one of the Blogs on awfulannouncing.com has all the ratings from the weeks before on all the Cable Sports Networks. They show both Total Viewers and breakout just the 18-49 age viewers.

So for example last Friday they had this for ESPN2 network

So you can see that the CFL game drew 175,000 total viewers and 56,000 of those were in the desireable to advertisers age 18-49 age group.

Thanks TPB,

BTW, glad the 2015 listings do not have Argo home games.

Do not want to show the US viewers a stadium full of empty seats.

One of the problems with estimating the number of viewers watching live sports in the US, especially those in the 21 and above age group is the thousands of Sports Lounges, some big some small, where thousands of multiple sport fans go to watch the games. These viewers are not included in the numbers shown by various monitoring companies, nor is ESPN 3 viewers.
Our problem with CFL on ESPN is network channel broadcast and ESPN 3 internet stream. The ESPN Download Schedule for the month of September shows 16 CFL games, all of them will be on ESPN 3, none on the broadcast channels.
