I haven’t heard of him either, (from his bio) James has been doing comedy for Quite some time so should be a good performance.

Ron James has a show running on CBC right now and I've seen him a couple times.
His humour is uniquely Canadian centred and he's CFL fan.
You won't be disappointed.
