CFL Fantasy Huddle Year Two

Yep redandwhites in, That means I'm out.

Oh well I am gonna just win the VGCC. means more to me anyways

Hey guys..I took most of the year off from this forum..but with the big trades and all the signings I'm bouncing off the walls for some football.

As for the Huddle, I can compile the stats again. I still have the spreadsheet from last year where I did it all.

The point system was pretty good, I would only add one change..points for a knocked-down pass. It was pretty annoying seeing Davin Bush knock down two passes and get nothing..but was some sad sack DB let people catch balls on him all day and then give his picker points by tackling him after!

If I may make a suggestion.
I would like to see 1 set of picks for the season with maybe 1 or 2 trades at the half way point. There are always arguments how this players is better than that player, and that players us no good!
Now is the time to put your money were your mouth is!

Thanks for thinking of me, but even the VGCC gets to be too much at times.

Segue into shameless plug: the VGCC will be back this year as well.

Wooooooohooooooooo!!!!!

I'm in agreeance with the points for knocked down passes, and I'd also like to see decreased scoring for QBs (just a thought)....and as for the keeping the players for the season...I actually like that, but if that was to happen, we'd have to have more than 1 or 2 trades...I'm thinking somewhere close to 9 or 10 for the entire season, it'll also make tallying points alot easier.

Just to help organize this, PM me if you would like to help tally points and/or if you have suggestions to improve the league, I'll talk it over with the people who are helping to run the league, and we'll make the correct adjustments. And yes..I will be running the league like last year, but with the help of a few others.. sort of like us taking turns tallying points throughout the season for each week. Thoughts?

what was the scoring system last year?

I think we could do a 1 set of picks for the whole season but I would like to do that in addition to the one we did last year. I like the challenge of finding match ups and staying consistent, weighing risks vs sure points, etc. week to week. The 1 set of picks can be for the fun players and the week to week challenge can be for the hardcore.

And: As the reigning champion last year who dominated the game (by staying second or third place the whole year then jumping Sportsmen to win by 13 points in the GC final :stuck_out_tongue: ), I'm throwing down the gauntlet. You think you can beat me? Let's see it.

Fooks holds the record for most points in a season. But I hold the record for the weirdest pick of all. In a moment of confusion, I did picked an injured back-up fullback as a running back. It kinda... affected my self esteem. Never been the same ever since... got into solid booze.... hanging out with Ricky Williams... started involving myself in bathroom through-sliding competitions... Damn Fantasy Football competition!

I would also like to see points for forced fumbles. And I like the format we had last year. If we end up picking keepers we'll have to do a draft and the CFL is so small (only 8 starting qb's) it's hard to have more than 8 fantasy teams and pick-up more than 1 qb each or 1 running back each..

.....you don't have to do a draft.........lets say you and I both have Edwards, but have different QBs, we share points in Edwards but our QBs will make for varying results......there would be a lot of different combinations and very unlikely there would be two posters that would pick the exact same team.......

Unless they are Winnipeg fans who will pick all Winnipeg

They arent that biased are they?

NO Im just teasing!

I know , so was I

I'm split on the keeper picks or no keeper picks...for keeper picks, you have to find a solid, consistent starter, and hope he doesn't get injured, but for changed picks every week, you really have to look at the match-ups and see what defense is playing what offense....I guess I can go either way, so I'll take a majority vote.

I could start it and keep it going, but I wouldn’t be play in it.

rather play in Big D Grey Cup Challenge.

I think the keeper picks is best. You have to balance talent and toughness. Do you want to pick some one who will rack up lots of point for 2-3 weeks then sit out for 3 weeks or someone less productive but will be there all season.
Lets be honest, that is what football is all about. You put your best players on the field and hope you don't have to play the backups

How about this: You go with keeper picks, but get to pick one backup per position. Prior to the games being played, you can select which of your guys will play, knowing the other will be benched. So this way, if one of your guys is injured, your whole season don't go down the drain, because you still get to play your backup. And your backup gets to play when your starter has a bye week.

That's how I'd do it.

I like the backup ideas but I think that would cause a lot of overlaps in picks. Maybe backup should only be in positions where theress a lot of depth (like receiver or RB) so theres not a lot overlaping picks.

maybe just go with a team but youre able to use the backup of the team the injured player is on(eg. you chose joseph as your QB but he gets injured so your QB would be Crandell until he is healthy again)

oh and of course count me in
