Yes, you’re right. But Watkins was considered one of the top players. If it wasn’t because he may be NFL bound, he would have a top 5 pick anyways.
Matte wasn’t as highly touted and the riders are so deep at receiver.

I don’t know about Watkins, he’s a stud, but may never be in the CFL. He’ll be 27 next year.

sorry esk fans but i dont like the way edm is going about this draft... basically getting rid of all their midround picks for a couple higher ones... the way this draft is going many anticipated top15 picks will still be available in the 20's...and many decent special teamers and project players in the late rounds... i like the moves by the bombers and cats to pick up an extra pick... for the bombers it didnt affect the first selection anyways... and steele may even fall to us again at 22?

killer i agree we have depth there but steele is a hometown boy and looks like he could be game ready soon, if hes available and 22 i say we take him.. him and donny o in a year or two would be nice in the middle... but its also not a huge need...if gesse is still there he looks good too... montreal has a lot of ni talent, they may be willing to take a couple surprise picks, and or wait for a guy like bender to come back to the cfl? teams that dont have a lto of early picks will still be in a decent position in the 3rd round to get some quality guys

Come to think of it, the pick isn’t that far fetched. The Argos are in need of a kicker. Even with the addition of Boreham, his best days may be behind him. Shaw is an insurance policy.
