CFL DISCIPLINE - WEEK 6

CFL DISCIPLINE - WEEK 6
Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club, Thaddeus Coleman, Josiah St. John and Jabari Hunt fined following Week 6

Wednesday, August 3, 2016 — TORONTO (August 3, 2016) -- The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today:

The Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club was fined $15,000 for an in-game roster violation related to deployment of international players in their game played on July 16, 2016 versus the BC Lions.

Saskatchewan Roughrider Thaddeus Coleman was fined for a dangerous block on Montreal Alouettes defensive lineman Aaron Lavarias.

Saskatchewan Roughrider Josiah St. John was fined for a chop block on Montreal Alouettes defensive lineman Vaughn Martin.

Edmonton Eskimo Jabari Hunt was fined for a low hit to Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Matt Nichols.

is it fair that the Riders got a $15,000 fine for a in game roster violation ? yes , you break the rules you suffer the consequenses.

how much of a fine did Michael Brooks receive for 3 penalties incurred on illegal hits on the QB , including taking the riders starting QB out of the game with a low hit ? undisclosed.

if the league doesn’t want to disclose player fines then why are they announcing the size of a fine that a team receives , what’s fair for one should be fair for all ?

what’s worse, in game roster violation or injuring a player forcing him to leave the game ?
in game roster violation $15,000.
3 penalties incurred on illegal hits on the QB, undisclosed ?

at minimum he should have been suspended for 1 game as well as incurred a hefty fine due to the circumstances of 3 penalties he incurred on hits to the QBs.

in my own opinion, injuring a player on a penalty should be that that said player miss as many games that the injured player misses due to injury on the penalty, and the team plays 1 roster spot less until said injured player returns to the active roster.

is it harsh ? yes but this will clean up the dirty hits in a hurry as no coach is willing to forego a roster spot.

They don't announce player fines, because it would embarrase the league.
With players playing for beer money, the couple hundred bucks a player gets fined would be foder for NFL only snobs.

Well bungle if you started to go to games maybe the league would have more money and then the teams could pay players more, then fine them more to you liking, but don't forget it all starts with you the paying customer.

You seem to have a hate boner for Bungle. Just sayin...

The maximum fine a player can receive is one half of his game cheque, it can only be less, not more

It's in the CBA

If he got three penalties, he was already penalized, with the fine on top of that. The Riders should have been penalized during the game and weren't.

if the league doesn't want to disclose player fines then why are they announcing the size of a fine that a team receives , what's fair for one should be fair for all ?
A player is not the same thing as a corporation, so no concept of fairness applies. Plus, the CBA applies.
what's worse, in game roster violation or injuring a player forcing him to leave the game ? in game roster violation $15,000. 3 penalties incurred on illegal hits on the QB, undisclosed ?
What's worse, breaking the rules and getting three penalties, or breaking the rules and getting away with it?
at minimum he should have been suspended for 1 game as well as incurred a hefty fine due to the circumstances of 3 penalties he incurred on hits to the QBs.
Quite possibly, but in the CFL you have to go well above and beyond to get a suspension that survives appeal, so the league rarely bothers now.
in my own opinion, injuring a player on a penalty should be that that said player miss as many games that the injured player misses due to injury on the penalty, and the team plays 1 roster spot less until said injured player returns to the active roster.

is it harsh ? yes but this will clean up the dirty hits in a hurry as no coach is willing to forego a roster spot.

It'll encourage dives and players staying injured longer, depending on the value of the injured player vs the suspended one. It'd also lead to wildly different punishments for the same infraction.

This is 2 finee in his first 2 games for st john. That's gotta be a record. Congratulations on such a quick ascent on my personal asshat list.

Jones and jsj can have each other. Rotten apples in the same barrel.

Let's just say bungle's negativity is a pet project.
