CFL Blame Game 2021

Everyone tends to die

And many had minor preexisting conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes and were leading good lives until the were infected…Even if they were in old folks homes

I personally don’t believe in the they were going to die anyway way of thinking. It does not matter to me if they are 110, they still have the right to life

I dont think we should temper the fear. I think too many people have lost interest and no longer care…These are the people who will spread the virus to others

Fear mongering by the news media so they can sell whatever product is never a good thing .

Main stream News Media has made us afraid and ignorant to other ways of life , countries , customs , religions , climate and now virology .

News should be about reporting accurate facts and not giving misinformation in order to subdue anyone into doing one thing or another because someone's business or government policy would be effected by the non compliance .

News should always be separated and be void of both government and corporate interests otherwise it just becomes bullshit in the end .

Australia is an island, no land borders.
As our PM said last week 93% of the people crossing at our land border are truckers and other essential workers. Thousands of trucks crossing every day at over 100 border crossings, none of these truckers, Canadians and American drivers are tested or have to isolate. They travel all over North America, no restrictions.
Australia doesn’t have to worry about a land border, they can just stop flights.

Let’s not forget the “China virus” that’s where it came from. But you can’t blame anyone for another cancelled CFL season except maybe the provincial premiers who won’t allow fans in the stands.

Care to place a wager the “essential” services imported most of our cases?
I am more skeptical of truckers from USA than I am from family members from China

I mean up in Brampton (closest Intermodal to where I live) is one of the worst Covid hotbeds in Ontario
What do they have up there? South Asians (very few Chinese) and lots of truck drivers, special “massage” parlours (not East Asian), and tons of fast food places along the roads.

Funny, you mention.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you one day see autonomous trucking in NA. That way you could still have full trade w/o the threat of transmission.

Honestly, we’ve gotten lucky with this pandemic. What if the next pandemic we face has a 90% kill rate of those it infects?

Like what product? The only product that the media sells is advertising

And you know that this is misinformation? Or it is something you don’t like or agree with?

Maybe its just me, but I find that calling it the “China Virus” racist

I admit I didn’t see that as I was skimming really quickly. But I have no problem with naming the virus after those responsible, which is the CCP. In fact, I have probably called it the CCP Virus before or at the very least thought about it.

That’s not to say I don’t also see the irony in the variants being named after the regions/countries they were first found in.

What’s more offensive is the Chinese government’s complacency, denial, and profiteering in all of this. I’ve lost two jobs and my cfl. I could care less what those evil idiots (the government, not the people) think.

Out of curiosity, would have said the same about 100 years ago regarding the Spanish Flu, or later about the Hong Kong flu?

Why? now we have the UK variant, we had the German measles, the Spanish flu.
I think we have to remind people, that is where it began China, why hide that and why is that racist???

The higher the death rate, the less a virus survives in a population. Viruses need a living host for long enough to be passed along. It’s why something like ebola with a 50% death rate is more containable.

The debate last night on the forum was removed .

I did show a clip of CTV News that was inaccurate trying to fear monger unnecessarily using one victim’s story as a precautionary tale .

Sensationalism in the news is not hard to find though it surrounds us daily .

Sensationalism and socialism.

Mainstream media is so one-sided it’s a joke. Big tech gets to decide what is acceptable now…disagree with their narrative and you are cancelled. Free speech is on life support.

“Socialism”

I’m sorry but what does ownership of the means of production have to do with sensationalism in the news media?

Or are you just listing unrelated things you do not like?

That’s a rabbit hole too deep and long for a cfl forum. Only certain things are sensationalized to fit a certain narrative, which is a progressive, leftist one.
Not to mention the subterranean reptile overlords

Only if you’re being one-sided. You could check out other media sources and get certain things sensationalized to fit a certain narrative, which is a regressive, rightist one.

Anyway I still don’t see what your point is in trying to link sensationalism with one particular economic model.
