Hello,
Could someone please tell me if there is an American Broadcast Schedule anywhere on the internet?
Thank you.
Not at the moment; however America One Television has announced that the CFL is returning to their schedule for the 2008 season starting June 26.
PROGRAM CHANGE - 05/30/08 The Canadian Football League returns for the 2008 season starting June 26th! Updated monthly schedules and our full CFL schedule will be available next week!
I look for it every year, and it always seems to come out, just before the first regular season game, you'd think it would come out quicker, since as far as I know they give it away to the staions carrying games, but I've adopted a better late than never attitude with the situation, the last 2 seasons however, they gave exclusive rights to the Friday night games to a DISH channel, but if there are 2 games on Friday, that channel usually only has the earlier game and the other is usually available. If you don't already have DirectTV and its sports pack, I recommend getting it for maximimum coverage.
The daily schedule on Altitude's website now goes into late June. The games of the 26th are not listed, but the programming that is isn't too significant that it couldn't be easily replaced by the CFL games as we get nearer the start of the season.
That’s no longer the case because DISH Network dropped VOOM, the package of high-definition networks which included WorldSport HD (the network which had exclusive rights to one CFL Friday Night game). I now see all games being cleared for distribution.
The same goes for DISH Network’s Multi-Sport Package. Altitude, which cleared more games and aired the Grey Cup live, is available on both DBS services.
I just checked America One’s website, and the Program Change notice from 5/30/08 has been removed.
Any idea what’s going on?
I have a very bad feeling about this season. I have emailed Altitude two times asking about CFL games because their own schedule does not show any and have recieved one response saying "we'll see what we can do"
That has not been their answer in the past.
Not looking too good for us american viewers at this point.
I've also sent two emails to Altitude, but have received no reply.
I heard back from Comcast Sports Net Chicago, and they said they're not planning to carry CFL this year. In the past, they said they've had difficulty clearing time on their schedule for the games, and have had problems with the quality of the video feeds. They told me that CSN Southeast may carry some CFL this year, but unfortunately, neither DirecTV nor Dish Network carries the channel.
I'm still waiting for replies from America One, CSN Bay Area, Sportsnet New York, New England Sports Network, and Altitude.
You're right--it's not looking good for us American viewers.
I have resigned myself to streaming all the games I can this year.
Comcast sports net was really crummy coverage last year anyway and easily half the time I ended up streaming the game anyway.
I really wish CFL.ca offered a season pass for the games. I would gladly pay it.
I just looked up an old column I wrote for cfl.ca, and my records show the schedule was released last year on June 13.
Regular season games started on the 21st last June, so I think we're jumping the gun giving up so soon.
This same anxiety hits me every year because I can't write my columns if I can't see the games so I panic until the broadcast schedule is announced.
If we don't hear something in the next couple of weeks I'll be shocked. On the other hand, if we hear something and it's way less than a full schedule, I'll be screwed...
I see your point, but as was stated by another poster, Comcast will not be showing any games and they were really the only other network down here besides Altitude that did.
I really hate to say this because I love the CFL so much, but having had some sales experience in the past, the burden to get your product (whatever it may be) to citizens of another country squarely lies on the shoulder of your sales department and, in this case, the director of programming.
Yes! I do live in an egomaniac nation that thinks anything american is all that! But…There are open minded people in this country that can see past our own rhetoric and do appreciate many things from other nations, including sports. The powers that be who control getting CFL games into those fans living rooms need to work a little harder to get the job done.
If I can’t see games this year, it will be a very long and boring summer for me!
Can't you at least watch streaming video from tsn.ca? Or just buy a Canadian satellite system. With a Canadian address, you can get a plain jane Bell receiver for nothing (after programming credits).
After the Grey Cup, cancel your service until next June. Unless you're a hockey/curling fan.
For goodness sake, most of the American regional sports networks added HD feeds this year. They have very little true HD programming to put on their channels. The CFL has LIVE FOOTBALL in HD to offer them--and they STILL can't get placed on these RSNs?!?!
Something's not right here.
I'm not giving up, yet. I know websites don't update their sites a lot of times, but America One still lists the CFL under their programing (didn't a month ago) and here is the page for CFL football:
http://www.americaonesports.com/showpag ... l%20LeagueWhen the cfl.ca removes the reference to US Broadcast schedule on their site, I'll give up.
Please don't go away CFL! 95% of the reason I switched from cable to satellite 3 years ago was for the CFL (other 5% is because it's cheaper than cable).
I also switched from cable to satellite 3 years ago, because CFL games were becoming available on the DirecTV Sports Pack channels. For the past two years, I've been angry with Trajectory Sports (the rightsholder) for signing an exclusive arrangement with Voom for the Friday Night Football games. I'm a Blue Bomber fan, and nearly half of the games have been blacked out ever since.
I hope no one is still clinging to that stupid Voom contract. The league needs to insist that its games are available in the U.S.--at a minimum--on Dish Network AND DirecTV.
Altitude has been the best, most-reliable U.S. outlet for CFL games. The league should do everything it can to continue that relationship.
I’ve noticed that as well.
I wish I knew what was going on. America One has the July schedule up already…not one game listed. Hopefully it will be updated within the next week or two; otherwise, U.S. viewers (myself included) will miss out on the games.
Maybe the CFL is about to get a new national TV partner in the states??? Perhaps Versus??!!
P.M. me please regarding this Bell reciever thing. How would i go about doing this living in the states?
Just went to their website and they say the first game is June 26. So it looks like they will be showing it. Too bad I can’t get it on Directv.

I thought about this and Versus would be a good network to go with, or maybe the NFL network - though I think it has few viewers.
