So, if “family comes first” is blended with “quitter”, you would throw out your compassionate thought and nail him to the cross?
NOW you’re talking like a smart businessman. I’m sure many other fans here are beginning to see the light as well.

Makes sense to me.
Usually comments from the agent are fully representative of, ‘from the horses mouth’. He’s being paid…
The big question now is, "Will his wife let him? She embarrasingly tried chewing out Cat fans a couple of weeks ago.
I'm glad they are not going to trade him for "peanuts". I saw way too much of that from the Lancaster days - flat out cutting people because they didn't want to be here. Jason is an excellent player and you don't throw those away.
If they can get a good player for him, fine - trade him. I have a feeling though that the Cats will hold on to him for spite  - just to prove a point that they're not going to give in to his wish for a trade. Rediculous.
Let's not even start debating about the family vs quitter issue again. It's been done to death. Is it any wonder why he wouldn't want to come back here though? Remember, we are all from Hamilton, have probably lived in Hamilton all our lives and developed sentimental attachments to the city and the team. These players are brought in from all over the U.S., probably never heard of the city before, and if all they've seen is one disaster after another - and the team has always been in turmoil as long as Jason was here - why is it hard to understand that he wouldn't want to come back to a situation like that? They're not all of a sudden gonna bleed black and gold.
Is this gonna be a season long issue? Booing Jason everytime he steps on the field? I can see it now...90 yard INT return for a touchdown - and c'mon, you know he'll do it  - and the Ivor Wynne crowd boos him off the field. Let the chips fall where they may. I'm confident he'll show up to camp and light it up.
Last of all, let's not jump the gun. Notice that Jason never said anything in this article. It was all coming from Medlock the mouthpiece.
He doesnt want to be here. We don't need him here. either he sits at home and sulks or we ship him out. Either way way we dont need bad attitudes here. If he would have stuck to the closer to home story, fine but he had to mention the winning losing thing. Thats what did him in He's not a team player or a palyer i want on my team
At least, not a bengal6, you get that
Medlock is negotiating in the press.
Why are so many of you getting your shorts in a knot over it?
Haven't you seen this type of thing in sports before?
It will get resolved in due time.
This year with all the coaches here from Mar.5th on
it could be even sooner than when whoknows predicts:
"we dont trade him, he comes to camp,
meets the staff, stays and plays really well."
P.S.
Does't anyone remember 2 years ago when Troy Davis
was crucified in the off season for the same thing
and he still left his guts out on the field
like he always did when he was given the ball?
Chillax!
Actually no I have never in all my 50 plus years heard a player say please feel sorry for me because my family is all sick or dying and oh BTW you guys are horrible and I don't want any part of you
Sports Agents put a spin on words
to make things appear worse
I don't want to accuse you
but did Jason Goss say
'please feel sorry for me?
or did you make that up to put
Jason in the worst light , turbo?
Its not a quote but it is what has been happening. Its really bizarre behaviour by him and his agent that defies logic.
from todays spec
But Goss, who is about to enter the option year of his contract with the Cats and wants to play in the CFL this coming season, has also made it clear he is fed up with losing Hamilton teams, and would prefer a new start somewhere else.
also
"We can't force Hamilton to do anything. But this is not a good situation. If Jason has to play in Hamilton, he would be worried constantly about his family,"
Yes! It’s right there in between-the-lines.
Do you not have the latest ‘Super Duper’ Invisible Translator?
Actually its there in black and white. You are just refusing to acknowledge it. No translation required.
from todays paper
Goss, who is officially suspended by the club after leaving in mid-season to address some serious family health issues, has requested that the club consider a trade so he can be closer to his off-season home in Phoenix.

It really cannot get any clearer
I missed that. What happened?
Was it here on this board?
Gossfan claims to be his wife I linked at the end of the thread in spite of the fact she posted multiple times earlier in it because if you go look on this page of the thread you'll see yet another link to her postings
I goofed. …should have read a couple of days ago.

Yup this is his wife. And I’m tired of people talking trash about good players with good intentions for their lives. So I refuse to let people bad mouth Jason on here. Its wrong, and a lot of these ‘true’ fans should be ashamed of themsleves. (Not all fans, only these ones who come on these forums to down-grade players, families of players, and other fans). And for all those who show compassion for players in their times of need, its appreciated. Thanks.
Seems fans are welcome to be compassionate amongst all the smoke, but don’t dare step on the players toes when their hoodwinking ‘end around’ is discovered.
And WE should be ashamed? I think not!
Public figures should, and do, know their career moves are open to public scrutiny. So it’s to their benefit to do it in an acceptable manner. IMO Jason already knows he made a poor and impulsive choice last season and right now is still left unguided in the right direction. But, hey, it’s his life. I’m just a string along paying customer fan.
Just realized I live closer to Dofasco than I do to Stelco. Wonder what chances would be of them trading me if I asked. Just another case of an athlete and his agent not being in touch with reality and pulling a hissy fit.
I don't really understand some of the venom some folks have for this guy.
From everything written, the family health issues were real and serious. That stuff weighs heavy on a guy's mind when he's working half a continent away from his family (I know from experience). It would make even a good situation worse, but it would make a bad situation brutal. And the last few years were a BAD situation.
Other players that were here last year and were traded or let go were also relieved to get away from the Cats. There's been plenty of comments that suggests that the atmosphere last year was toxic. Not winning is bad enough - not winning in a toxic work environment is brutal. That's the environment Goss left when he left here.
Sometimes, when things are bad, personally and professionally, things happen, things get said, relationships go bad and, once you get free of the situation, you don't want to have to return to it and be reminded of all that negative stuff. Goss was suspended by the team, not given a mercy leave, and in a strange hush hush sorta way - you can probably speculate that there were bad feelings on both sides.
Also, consider this - he probably has some buddies on the team that he keeps in touch with, and maybe some of those buddies have surnames like Cotton or Cheatwood or Flick - guys that wouldn't have a lot of nice things to say about the GM who just demanded they take a pay cut and then cut or traded them when they wouldn't agree to it. Or maybe his buddies are guys that are still on the roster, don't like what the GM is doing and wonder who the heck they're going to be playing alongside next year because many of the guys they played with last year were given away for nothing.
Other than blind optimism and faith, what evidence does anyone have so far that would indicate that the Cats are going to have a better team this year? I'm keeping my fingers crossed as much as anybody, but unlike the players, if the team is brutal again I don't have to go to work there every day.
Add in the fact that he's been ridiculed or mocked by fans for putting family before work, and we know he's aware of what's being said because his wife has been shredded for coming on here to explain his situation or defend him (probably a bad idea on her part, but she's a very young woman in the middle of an emotional situation). And his home IS closer and in the same time zone as some Western cities - not that much closer, sure, but closer (BTW, the Cats play in Hamilton, not at the Toronto airport).
I totally understand why the guy might feel the way he does. He's had a pretty crappy couple of years, on the field and off, and I can't blame the guy for thinking a fresh start would be a good thing.
On the other hand, I understand and applaud the Cats position on this as well - if you start caving every time a guy that asks for a trade, you will seldom get fair value and you will never build a winner.
A lot of words to say it, but I really don't think there are any bad guys here. Hopefully Goss will arrive to camp with his personal life on steadier ground, his mind open and his body in playing shape, the management team will find some quality guys to fill all the holes on the roster, and nine months from now everyone involved will forget that any of this every happened.
oski-wee-wee!
Very well said, section8. Balanced and well thought out.
