Adrian Baird played the last three seasons with Edmonton and Winnipeg. At 6-5, 245 he's likely a replacement for the injured Barrenechea - most of Baird's tackles are on special teams.
Unfamiliar with Baird, I went looking for any press on him and found this article from when the Eskimos released him in May of this year (He's a U. of Ottawa slotback converted to LB/Rush End who played special teams for Wpg in '07 and Edm in '08). What I find MOST INTERESTING here is the photo from an Eskimos' team practice on the 4th of May -- a full month before league rules allow teams to hold practices even for rookies!
I'm sure that coach Marshall knows him well as he played in Winnipeg. :cowboy:
Wonder if A. Baird has a beard.
He will shore up special teams, unlikely to see a snap on defense.
Also, a photo from the article regarding his release would probably just be an old file photo, not a current photo. No the Esks weren't practicing on May 4th
Canadian Baird replacing Auggie for Special Teams.
Mariuz and to a lesser extent Yannick Carter will see some limited time at LB in Auggie's absence.
I was a bit suprised Obie did not bring back Sasha Glavic who I believe is still a UFA.
