Austin was hired in 2010 specifically to rebuild and turn around the football program at Cornell. In his three years at Cornell, the team’s record was 11 and 19 overall and only 6 and 15 against Ivy League teams. The team never had a winning record and never finished better than 6th in the eight team Ivy League. More importantly, the team regressed to a 4 and 6 record in his final year - a sure warning sign that the rebuilding program had hit a wall and was not proceeding as planned.
“Very secure dream job at Cornell” … well maybe. I think it’s more likely that due to the circumstances, the Tiger-Cat offer came at a very opportune time for Austin to exit Cornell.

IMHO there is no secure job in CFL Football, unless your name is Wally Buono.

I doubt you will find any secure coaching jobs in any league.

His last season coaching, he started 0 wins and 6 losses,
He won the Grey Cup that year because he was also the GM and didn’t fire himself for such a crappy start.

Tillman has input for sure but Austin is the Coach, GM and President of Football operations.

Sorry, I can't see it. Austin's ego is too big to allow someone with the title of consultant to perform the GM's duties. Tilman provides Austin with his opinions I'm sure but the GM is Austin. He wanted the GM title for a reason--he wants to be the team's GM.

You are right, Grover, Kent Austin has those titles and the authority but because of time constraints he has to leave the day to day in season G.M duties to Eric Tillman. He then considers Eric's suggestions and makes the final decisions.
