Cats bid for 2020 Grey Cup against two others

His daughter Charlotte is better ! Like father like daughter . It would appear that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree indeed .

Woooooooo

The new stadium district will play a part in game day festivities. You can spend the day there prior to the game and get your transmission serviced or your dry cleaning done. Maybe even take out a small payday loan.

Perhaps even buy a slightly used mattress to take home as a souvenir or perhaps a used fridge or stove .

“No live bacteria!”

Shut down the whole area and make it a huge street party. Local traffic only, with a previously issued pass. Up and down Cannon, Melrose, Balsam and Beechwood. Focal point would be the stadium with entrance ways serving as patios! Events could centre in the James Street Armouries.

Shuttles run from the Stadium to the downtown every 15 minutes. I’ll be too old to walk

So we finally put in a bid to host the Grey Cup and some people are talking trash about the City.
I sure hope the people that award the game don’t read this stuff.
It’s not funny when non Hamiltonians say these things and it is even less funny coming from our own.

rant over. :frowning:

Agreed

I am a huge backer of this city, despite it’s many warts.

I never watched an episode of Canadian Idol and voted for Brian Melo 23 times while on a stationary bike.

But the bottom line remains…our civic leaders have failed to deliver on their promises to provide a stadium district.

The truth hurts.

None of this will stop the team from getting the game and Hamilton will still put on a great event, just as we always do.

Of course we don’t want to mention WH!

Even in an ideal location, a stadium only creates benefit for would-be neighbouring businesses to the extent that it attracts large numbers of visitors to the area frequently throughout the year. An outdoor grandstand holding roughly a dozen major events per year, all between June and November, is not going prop up restaurants/bars that wouldn’t otherwise be sustainable in that area.

For sentimental reasons, I’m glad we have THF so the Ticats have a place to play, but there was never a credible business case for the city or provincial government to have contributed any money to building it, in any location.

Don’t blame city hall, they had an entire entertainment district planned for WH. Amphitheatre, hotel, convention center. So good was the idea, Daryl Katz wanted to manage it along with AEG. Those two entities have big ties with the NHL…

Who knows what could have been, but don’t blame the city!

ya, lots of plans, zero chance of it ever happening.

no one wants to unearth what is buried down there.

Unfortunately Hamilton missed a real opportunity to build a stadium like Ottawa’s closer to the downtown and with commercial development to lower the cost to taxpayers. But it’s done and we do have a modern stadium within reasonable distance of downtown amenities. Ottawa’s Grey Cup festivities were mostly concentrated in their downtown core about 20 minutes from the stadium area and it worked out fine. Ottawa has an excellent transit system which was made free to ticket holders and they shut down Bank Street to traffic on game day and ran extra buses. We could easily do the same here, although our transit is a work in progress. Overall, we have the amenities in place to host a memorable Grey Cup festival.

It’s the same idiots who think they are being funny on every thread. Sarcastic and embarrassing and lend nothing to the discussion.

Why bring up stuff that can’t be changed? Get over it for Chr!sts sake.

Treasure?

Listening on the radio

If we don’t get the 2020 Grey Cup we will probably get the 2021

I think we’ve waited long enough, the CFL should give us whatever GC we want.

Everybody funny. Now you funny too.

TD Place/Lansdowne is about 2.5km from the edge of downtown Ottawa. THF is about 3km from the edge of downtown Hamilton.
