Was Davis cut from the Argos last year? I can't remember.
Davis played the last two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts and was selected as a CFL East Division All-Star following the 2006 season. In his two seasons with the Argos, Davis played in a total of 30 regular season games and two post-season contests at right tackle.
If Davis was an all-star last year, why was he available for the Cats to sign? He wasn't on the free agent list.
As far as Walker (who is only 5'9" but who has lots of experience returning kicks) is concerned, one would think that he will be competing with Fowlkes for the "kick return specialist" position.
because he was cut in the offseason due to his contract. great pick up for the RT spot. we have been by far the most active team...which was to be expected but Im happy to see it.
Does anyone know who Davis will be competing against at RT?
Good luck in yellow Jerome!
(except when playing the Double Blue)
No one. The dude can play.
things are finally looking better!
"geesh..I don't know about Marcel..he hasn't done anything that could make this team better!"
i think he will be competing with pascal cheron if pascal is heathy this year. we have jonta as a lock at left tackle so im going with davis n cheron will battle it out. along with another signing soon.
Jerome Davis was only cut because he had about 10 holding penalties in the playoffs for the Argos last year.
Charlie Taaffe was the offensive coordinator at Maryland from 2001 through 2005 and Jo Jo Walker played receiver and kick returner there from 2002 through 2005. He must have made a good impression on Coach Taaffe.
As for Jerome Davis, it is a smart move by the Ticats to acquire an additional offensive tackle with proven CFL experience.
Hope the Big Guy Sticks..
I am Pascal fan but Pascal is better of the Bench
Jerome Davis was only cut because he had about 10 holding penalties in the playoffs for the Argos last year.Actually Davis only had 3 penalties in 3 playoff games in the last 2 years. 2 of them were in the first half of the 2006 eastern champ game and the 3rd in the 2005 eastern champ game and was declined
Nice try though!
Actually Davis only had 3 penalties in 3 playoff games in the last 2 years. 2 of them were in the first half of the 2006 eastern champ game and the 3rd in the 2005 eastern champ game and was declinedhollar at your boy whoknows...great stats, you are very insightful
The Davis acquisition is a big plus for the O-line. If Jerome is healthy throughout the season, we are going to see a huge upgrade in our tackle play along with Jont'a Woodard on the other side from the vulnerabilities apparent last season (particularly re Greg Randall). Our outside running game is also going to pick up.
I feel better about the Wayne Smith departure in the short term because now the line seems to have more possibilities. If we can get a healthy George Hudson anchoring the interior of our O-line, the balanced playcalling approach I expect from Taaffe and Working ought to pay some dividends.
Oski Wee Wee,
I agree. This gives some time for some younger prospects to mature.
He's good on both pass protection as well as opening holes for the run.
wow...it looks like our offensive line is coming together for the new ti cat season. we acquired jerome davis from the Argos who played 30 games in the last two years with the Argos. he brings a lot of experience to the table and hes tall and a large guy for our front 5 at 6'5 300lbs
so now we have jonta woodard and Jerome Davis as our offensive tackles..even pascal cheron as a backup if he is capable of playing this year.
we have marwan hage as a centre or we can use George Hudson as our centre this year or just leave George as a guard.
we have plenty of spots at guard with Fabio Filice, Carl Gourgues,Kyler Jukes,Ryan Donnelly, newcomers Peter Hogarth and Chris Sutherland
We are looking good..GO CATS GO!
.....and you got Belli who had 20 penalties when he played for us the last time.
