If he did go to Hamilton , that would a nice way for Kidd to wind down his carreer instead of going to a rival team. And he would still get a big cheer when he came back here to play . He would be one of those players you still like even on another team because of his time here , unlike some one else we know.
I agree but then you have to learn not to bring players (like Barrin Simpson) up in your thread about Kidd.
Let me just add that I’m a Lion’s fan, you’ve got a great team, something to be proud of, but don’t dis someone who obviously had more value as a player than a guy that Buono dumped. I think Wally has lots and lots more football knowlege than you or I. Thanks for some calm reasoning, best to ya’!
Bringing up another player does not justify trolling
Says Who...?
Says lost of people.....now get, or any post of yours which is deemed to be trolling will simply disappear.
It is not surprising but deeply disappointing that Wally doesn't want Carl back. Obviously, Carl isn't a member of Wally's book club and so Wally will overlook that Carl was often times the first man down field on special teams making tackles. Judging from what the players say, the team will lose the intangibles that Carl provides when he is cut adrift. I can only hope that Carl lands with another team and, as my favourite player, my hope is that Carl will lead that team to its playoff knockout of the BC Lions next year.
Obviously you are not a BC fan then.
It happens , we all liked Kidd here in BC , but we also liked Warren , Young and other players last year like Farrera . But it is Wally’s job to keep BC on the cutting edge and that requires routine turn over of players to keep the team from getting long in the tooth.
Those other players who were cut earlier this season were all popular and fans were disappointed they got cut too. But the team became better and the result was we became the best team in the league . That’s what Wally’s job requirement is.
It is the secret to his long term success , whereas some other coaches are successful for a few seasons , then go downhill. Dave Ritchie was a prime example of that when he was a headcoach for us back in the 90’s and later in Winninpeg. His downfall was his loyalty to players who were popular but long in the tooth. And that brought the whole team down after a while .They became uncompetitive after a few years as the players aged.
Every player has to compete for a job every year , that’s Wally’s approach and it works for him.

I have been a BC Lions fan since 1977 and AM a Lions fan. That's why I'm saying Wally is making a mistake being so disrespectful to Carl. I agree wholeheartedly with your comment -- Let Carl compete next year! Wally won't even give him that.
Yes, Wally has been successful -- particularly in July. yes, we won the cup this year but Wally's playoff record is like Marty Schottenheimer's -- not very good on a percentage basis.
I think Wally's biggest challenge this year will be to get an Offensive Coordinator who will embrace a running game. If Dickenson goes south, we'll be in trouble if we have Bucky and Casey arguing about playing time. Bucky's a year away from being a bona fide number one man but make no mistake -- he's a keeper who will probably win a Super Bowl in the next ten years
Dave dickenson is not going anyware, heard on 1040 today that this is a faulse rumer.Buck pierce is ready this years and casey printers is not coming back to the cfl antime soon, if you have been listing to tsn they said he has signed a 3 year deal in Kansas City, to be on the 54 player roster.which means kansas city is planning to keep him for a few more years, and i also heard from thier website that they do not want casey printers to sighn with any cfl, or nfl team at all.
I agree, I wouldn't want Kidd going anywhere, like simpson. He's a great player.
I know this topic has been kicked around alot already, but haven't been in here for awhile and just getting caught up.

PW, you "really" do understand the harsh, cold realities of business which are so important to success in a highly competitive environment. Very well stated.
Wally posesses in spades what is referred to as "Managerial courage". The ability to make a decision without emotion based on "his" reality in the face of possible contraversy. It's head over heart, and an absolutly necessary attribute to be a consistant winner over time.
As some above have essentially eluded to, the bone pile is littered with the heads of leaders/ coaches/managers who have been unable to address the elephant in the room hoping it will just one day leave on it's own.
Pat Quinn is IMO an example of that mindset and has paid for it more than once.
A hound dog nose for talent, the ability to get them signed, a great development program, and eventually putting the candidate to work filling the hole. It's called churning.
I too saw the intagible attributes brought to the game by CK and it hurts to see a guy leave who has a lion heart. Most Lion fans have an emotional attachment to Carl, and so do I.
That said, if WB doesn't see him in his future who am I to argue with a guy who has enjoyed so much success in his coaching/management roles...a future hall of famer who has, along with Bobby A. been literally breathing life back into this organization.
As pennw so eloquently stated, it's what keeps Wally and his teams on the cutting edge and leading the pack.
...if what you say is true, and I have no reason to beleive it is not because it does make sense, then how do you explain the relationship between Dickenson and Buono?...why is it any different?....
R&W. Does look from "afar" there might be something of a special relationship there, but what really don't we know?
As fans we only know what we see and really in some instances we see damn little.
In my view, in spite of his warts DD has still got game, but will injury a/o even better performances by BP bring about the end of DD's last season's status going fwd.?
From what I've read here today many are just speculating about DD's lot in life in the upcoming season.
I believe that this situation will be no different than any others when/if Walley makes any move, and fan opinions at that time will as always be simply optics.
...true enough, I guess Wally the GM has to have a MO to carry on business but not be so predictable that his players instantly know what to expect...there needs to be some unknown factor there to be just a little dangerous...
Other than taking the gas pipe over the 2nd half of the season in 05 which Wally wasn't able to correct,(considering who was coaching I not only was truly surprised by that, but how could he not have seen that coming)the franchise has seen many good times under his leadership.
His comments early last season to have much less in the way of patience with under achievers proved to be true as sacred cows became good burger.
He's tough and a little stubborn, seldom makes poor decisions and likely won't fall into a repeat of the 05 debacle again.
Some may not agree with his pre-emtive strikes in those instances, but they are not only affective, they reflect that managerial courage to do the right thing that some see in him.
An aside:
When a team wins ugly as often as this one did in 05 starting about mid season, in spite of poor performances, people start to believe that all they need to do is show up...we'll win anyway.
The guys were "cheating" and got what they worked for.
I've observed in sport and business that when that bubble is finally burst, like the Esks did to the Lions @ Comonwealth Stadium, it most often leads to an ugly losing streak and very difficult to get corrected.
Sorry, very much off topic.
WOW... this got way off topic. So Wally says he will go with Jamal in that position which means Carl is out. That is something we will have to accept. Personally I will miss not having Carl on the team, I was hoping he would get one more year and then retire. Whatever I wish Carl the best.
End of Story today.. Wally said he will not be back as a lion. Carl if you read these postings ... best of luck. Will be looking to see you in the "mushroom dome" even if it is with another team.
Heard it officially today.(CKNW Radio) Kidd is retiring as a Lion. Will be in town to accept his Grey Cup ring in June!
I hope the lions do it right and honour Carl at one of the games... least we can do for someone who gave to us!!! Will miss the trash talk.
