Canadian players playing (or not) in Bowl games over the next 5 weeks:
UTAH STATE DE Connor Williams JR 6-3 270 KANATA, ONT
Eligible for this year’s draft. Not rated highly or considered an impact player.
RICE DT Christian Covington FR 6-3 285 VANCOUVER, B.C.
Grover’s son was a big recruit, one of the best players in Canada last year. This year he had 37 tackles, 7 tackles for loss (3rd on team), and 4 sacks (4th on team). Could play any position on d-line. Top prospect!!
RICE DE Hosam Shahin JR 6-3 290 RICHMOND, B.C.
Great presence on the line. Another top prospect. Had 43 tackles (5th on team), 8.5 tackles for loss (2nd on team) and 5 sacks (3rd on team). This game will be fun to watch to see both these linemen in action.
RICE TE Luke Willson SR 6-5 250 LASALLE, ONT
Toronto Argonaut draft pick in 2012 will have to decide between playing baseball or football. Rated 32nd best TE in the upcoming NFL Draft. Is probably a better baseball player, but loves football more. Regardless, he can definitely play in the CFL if that’s what his destiny is.
SYRACUSE DB Arjen Colquhon FR 6-1 190 WINDSOR, ONT
Another top prospect, should be highly ranked by the time his draft year comes around. Is a back-up at boundary corner, and could see some action in this game.
IOWA STATE DT Cleyon Laing SR 6-4 290 EDMONTON, AB
Advanced as a tackle in 2012, leading the team in sacks, albeit only 3. Decent prospect for the Argos and probably wont get a look in the NFL.
PURDUE C Henry Lorenzen JR 6-2 280 WILSONVILLE, ONT
Has seen little to no action since making the team as a walk on in 2009. Academic scholar trying to get some playing time behind starting Center Rick Schmeig. Probably wont see him in this game either.
NORTHERN ILLINOIS WR Juwan Brescacin FR 6-4 220 MISSISSAUGA, ONT
Plays in certain game situations, but has intangibles that you like in a receiver. Few more years of experience, especially with QB Jordan Lynch who is fun to watch, should make Juwan a top prospect come draft time.
NORTHERN ILLINOIS DB Courtney Stephen SR 6-0 195 BRAMPTON, ONT
Ticat draft pick has seen action in 9 games this year. Should be a corner or safety for the Ticats in 2013.
FLORIDA WR Stephen Alli WR 6-6 220 BRAMPTON, ONT
Currently nursing a shoulder injury, this athletic player will hear his name called early in the 2013 CFL Draft just because of his athleticism and his vast potential. He has a slight, lanky body which should fill out more in the years ahead. Has not played much at all at Florida and may not see action in this game either.
JANUARY 3 LB Boseko Lokombo JR 6-3 235 ABBOTSFORD, B.C.
Higly rated player for 2013 CFL Draft. Can play in the CFL today although his ceiling hasn’t been reached, and his game has to get more refined. Capable of the big play but also can look average. Plays among the best players in College football in the PAC-10 and Oregon was a loss away from possibly playing in the BCS Championship game.
