Can anyone recall a game won by a rouge on a punt?

Just curious can anyone recall a game won by a rouge on a punt. Maybe the game is tied and a team drives the ball down to the 10 or so and rather than risk a blocked field goal the team just punt the ball out of the end zone. Has this happened?

I recall a game won by a rouge on a pass...

I do remember several games with punts into the endzone with no time on the clock with returners in the endzone kicking it back out. One time in particular a while back I know BC kicked a field goal from about 35 yards out and intentionally and successfully aimed for the sidelines in the endzone for a single winning point and nulifying any return opportunity if missed.

correct me if i am wrong but the Argos beat the Bombers in one game on a prefontaine punt. It was punted medium-deep into the corner of the endzone and Albert Johnson III (first time with the bombers) fielded it and tried to get out but came up just short and the Argos won something like 36-35 (not sure of score)

over the last 40 yrs, I have seen it often. Cannot remember a specific game though.

I've seen it a few times. Usually once every 2-3 years.

Very similar:
I remember back in the 70’s some team tried to punt the ball through the end zone in Hamilton. I think they put Garney Henley back there and he kicked it back out to preserve the win. (however, i might be wrong)

I don't if this would qualify but once the Bombers lost the Grey Cup because they gave up a series of Rouges. At that time you did not loose the ball if you gave up a Rouge. The Bombers were playing into a very strong wind and could not make a first down. So instead of kicking, they would give up two points and try again. Soon after that game, they change the rules where the team givng up the rouge would loose the ball.

I've seen a couple of games where a rouge is scored on an intentional missed field goal. Although its generally agreed that this is a lame way to win a football game...

sounds to me like you talking about the safety, not rouge?

My buddy's father keeps telling me about a Calgary game he went to that ended on a "triple-kick" as he calls it...kicking it in and then back out again, and then back in.

no, if the field goal is wide, it can still go through the endzone, which counts as one.

haha yeah i heard about that, that wasnt that long ago was it?

Look, if anyone wants an answer to this, just go ask someone like Steve Simmons from The Sun, they have all their "negative CFL info" readily on hand to prove to anyone that the CFL should change to American rules completely. I guarantee you they will have this information.

that is not what lebird is talking about. He mentions two points and giving up the football.

Lebird is talking about the 1965 Grey Cup… the “Wind Bowl”. Winnipeg gave up 3 safeties instead of punting into the wind. They lost by 6.

It happens a couple of times every few seasons. Specifically, I can’t remember.
