MONTREAL — Quarterback Caleb Evans started in place of Cody Fajardo and led the Montreal Alouettes to a 41-12 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday at Molson Stadium.
I thought Evans played well. He ran a little, he threw a little, he kept the offence moving and kept the Riders D on the field a lot longer than they wanted to be.
I think all the veteran QB’s around him are helping him a lot.
I’ve thought fairly highly of Evans now for quite a while. While he may never be a franchise qb he seems to be a great role player & teammate, an asset to his team. Good on him for a job well done.
Another game of back-up QBs. (Or 3rd stringer for the Riders.) Happening too often this season. Need to get to the reason(s). O-lines? Conditioning? Deliberate intent to injure? Over to you, Randy.
Another advertisement for getting rid of short week scheduling. Not good tv when the schedule makers put one team on a tee for the other one. Lions at Bombers last week was the same thing. Nobody will use it as an excuse but it certainly is a reason. Bad for the game I think.
It should be noted that Montreal was on a short week too. Not quite as short as SSK, but still short. And the week before, the Als had also played on a short week, traveling to Hamilton.
