This game started off looking promising, but then everything happened. We were competitive in the first half, but then injuries, DROPS, and the lack of both talent and intensity reared their ugly heads.
For a guy “earning” $235,000, Timmeh is a bust. TWO dropped TD passes in the same game, bringing his total to FIVE for the season (at least). To top it off, he blew a block on BO-O’s catch at the end of the first half that would have let him score.
Our first down production wasn’t good this game.
There needs to be a serious discussion about the depth chart. Dressing ONE backup DB is a recipe for disaster. I know CF-L came in for Peters, but then HE got hurt. But hey - we dress 57 backup linebackers, so…
This is something that has burned us in at least three games.
We seem to have a talent issue on the D-Line, meaning - we really don’t HAVE any.
As I said in the }Playoff Chances" thread, ours have gone somewhere south of Antarctica.
The Offence didn’t look as if it was on the same page of the playbook all night. Butler had ONE decent hole opened for him by the O-Line on his TD run, otherwise he was getting hit before the LOS on running plays.
Forde (the guy in the booth) mentioned that Bo’s two worst games in terms of completion percentage and yards have been vs Winnipeg this season.
Lots of errors to go around.
Two dropped pics.
Two interceptions - Bo was off the pace from the last few weeks and had a lot of high throws.
Our D line couldn’t stop the run all night.
Not nearly enough pressure on Zack.
Winnipeg’s D was tough, ours wasn’t. That’s really what it came down to.
Thinking about 2025 now. The moral of the story is: Win games early in the season, then we dont need trigonometry calculations to make the playoffs. ( But i am going off on a tangent here.)
Winnipeg simply has more talented players.
Does anyone think that Lawlor or Demski would drop the passes that Timmeh had IN BOTH HANDS?
No pressure on Zach by our D-line, and only ONE hole opened for Butler. Our lines were manhandled.
We simply got beaten by a superior football team and superior organization around that football team. No pressure from the Front 4 on Defence. Pass coverage in the Secondary returned to early season “form”. Too many dropped passes by well paid receivers in key moments. The Bummer O-Line pretty much whipped us and ran the ball down our throat, similar to the '19 Grey Cup, and owned us in the 2nd half.
We have to face the objective facts here. Although we have improved we are nowhere near ready for playoff wins and certainly nowhere near a championship calibre team or organization. This is a mediocre football team who’s cinderella run against relatively mediocre opposition came to an end and we got brought back to earth tonight.
Here’s the kicker, we now have another guaranteed sub.500 season. The 12th in the 20 years Bob Young has owned the team. Honestly, we’re not a playoff team and even if we somehow got lucky and backed our way in, we’d be in another “one and done” scenario. It’s time to use the last two games as a test session and try and see who we want for next year. This year is basically done…
Mike O’Shea & his staff left the film room scratching their heads . . . they had just watched video of William Stanback gashing the Tiger-Cats’ Defence for one big play after another in Q3 of their latest game. O’Shea asked his coaches, “Why did Stanback only touch the ball one single time in the 4thQ & OT??”
We knew the Blue Bombers’ Offensive game plan would include a healthy dose of Brady Oliveira. If we knew it, then Chris Jones knew it too. Jones was not able to pull another Rabbit out of his hat on this evening.
On an evening when the tough as nails Mike Walker was honoured at Halftime, when the great Ben Zambiasi was the Alumnus of Distinction and announced to the assembled masses, “Hamilton fans appreciate Great Defence!!” . . . on an evening with all of that happening, we saw nothing that resembled “Great Defence”. It was “Men against Boys” in the second Half. I guess it makes a difference when Stanley Bryant is handed a helmet. I left the stadium with flashbacks of John Priestner dancing in my head . . .
2 trains / 1 track . . . seriously ?? The Winnipeg Blue Bombers showed up with a Freight locomotive . . . the Hamilton Tiger-Cats countered with a “Pump Trolly” !!!
Good night !!
PS: I thought the Tiger-Cats’ pass protection was fantastic while the outcome of that game was still in doubt !!
Team looked decent towards the end but they still lack a lot of talent to be a championship team. I’m not sure Milo is the guy for the job either but we will see because I doubt he’s going anywhere.
