Buffalo Bills owners threaten to move them to Austin

…except maybe London

Maybe you could have an Atlantic Schooners in the States, if there’s available stadium.

Fans in Atlantic Canada would at least still be able to watch on television/buy merchandise. And maybe in 5 or 10 years, if a stadium is ever built in Halifax, they could relocate the team there.

Jaxx should never have been in NFL in 1st place
You can thank (blame) the USFL for that
Do not be surprised if that team moves one day

The Jaxx to London thing is real

The USFL folded in 1985. Jacksonville joined the NFL in 1993. How are these two things related?

Jacksonville Bulls led the USFL in attendance (despite having a losing team)
This was a major selling point to NFL

If the league expanded earlier the Jaguars would have started play earlier

Irsay (Baltimore Colts) also at one point was considering relocating there

Orlando and Baltimore were the expected teams
Instead league went Jacksonville and Carolina

Jacksonville was a longshot to land a NFL team but they did and here we are …

And the climate here with the team and the owner I can say there is no fear of them trying to leave anytime soon and alot of it has to do with Kahn’s outside interests here in the city a lot of it is tied to the jaguars

I’m not saying they ARE moving across the pond…but if there is ever an advancement in commercial supersonic aircraft travel again they will probably be the London Jaguars at some point…it’s possible, just not probable…

Exactly they aren’t going anywhere. London is doing alright as an NFL host, they don’t need a team, they host 4 or 5 NFL teams over a season and fans get to see 8 or 10 different teams over a year. With the price of tickets in London and the corporate sponsors, the host team as well as the NFL is making a lot of money out of it.

Ya just so tiring to hear it only brings out eye rolls anymore

As long as there is enough public money coming in for a future renovation of the stadium before the lease expires by the end of the decade, the Jags won't be going anywhere.

Enough public money to satisfy owners/league will determine the Bills future too.

Both Jaguars and Panthers are serious threats to move as we type these replies

I quoted this in another thread but NFL despite making billions really does have an inherent instability as team moves are pretty common

It got pretty far along
They are still aiming for 2025 a London NFL team

Even have scheduling logistics worked out (bye week aligned for teams playing in London)

Jaguars are often talked about moving there
Although I still feel a single team over there will die as quickly as a single CFL USA team would

For fun mostly but I would say the Owner seems restless , small market , rumours etc … .

It’s metro area is larger than Buffalo, a modern stadium and it’s owner not as restless as Buffalo’s - So there is a better chance of Buffalo going somewhere else.

An NFL team would thrive on the moon.

Move the Argonauts to Buffalo or Halifax.

But horrible infrastructure
The Super Bowl in particular was a disaster and so are most home playoff dates

Jacksonville is also a physically much larger city so its population is nowhere near as impressive (although people have been leaving Buffalo area in droves lately)

Jacksonville has 1100 people per square mile (750 square miles)
Buffalo has 6400 people per square mile (40 square miles)
[To put this in perspective, Toronto has approx 2700 people per square mile, over an area of approx 378 square miles]

So Buffalo would be a much more impressive city for most people to host a pro sports franchise
Esp if you expanded your footprint and included the surrounding cities and burbs comparable to Jacksonville

There are more Toronto residents at Bills games than at Argos games

The CFL should go in markets that don’t have a NFL team like Hartford, Richmond, Arlinton(both areas are close to the WTF market, but in different state)and Virginia Beach

Can’t do it. High taxation, high cost of living, damp climate. And the NFL forgets to mention that it ships all their game day equipment for both teams by sea, weeks of planning involved. The NFL brings their toilet paper
