Bruce DeVenne (Halifax jerk) attacks the CFL

berezin99, normally I'd agree with you, but this goof managed to sink the whole commonwealth games bid. There's a lot of people in Halifax dumb enough to listen to him, and there's even more out there who keep their mouths shut, let this guy do what he wants, and then b*tch and moan once they miss out on great things.

I say lets all email a letter to the editor of that newspaper. What is the email sportsguy?
And lets email them several emails each.

Sadly I don't think we can make much difference unless we find someone from the Halifax area to spearhead a campaign to shed light on a stadium and the CFL.

Yes we can. It has been done befor.
Heck I am driving to Milwaukee to rally for a CFL team, lol
Why the heck should we be lazy and not help out Halifax.
OK Lets show Halifax what Canadians are really about.
Whats the email and lets all email our thoughts to this newspaper. If we all stick together we can pull this off.

The guys a complete fool. its that simple.

But he's fool with a big mouth and the media kowtows to types like that. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Lets get that email address and start a campaign. Let the editor know that even if they don't care and a couple of loudmouthed naysayers can seemingly lead the opinion of an entire region, there are those elsewhere who won't let it go unnoticed and unchallenged.

I tried to get the address for the Halifax Daily News, but for some reason I couldn't access the website. See if it works for you: www.hfxnews.ca

There is currently some negotiations going on between the Federal Government and Native Government on a swap of land. The Feds are prepared to turn over a huge parcel of land in Dartmouth where the Commonwealth stadium was going to be placed in exchange for some land that is owned by local Native Band. Natives wish to use that land to build a Hotel/Casino complex and Sports/Entertainment venue.... They have all the money they need to do this. It dosen't mean a CFL team but it could mean a stadium. Municipal Gov has very limited means to interfere with Native affairs...

Oh yeah? Do u have a link?

I am not sure what you mean by link? There is nothing to announce at this point...

Did you read this in a paper Hlx or speak with anyone like a politician? How do you know what you are saying is true? Evidence, CSI style please.

Actually in the paper it said Stephen Harper was coming to Halifax this week. But it also said for reasons unknown.

It certainly is tantalizing to thing what he could come up with for Nova Scotia, but money for a stadium doesn’t seem like something Harper would cough up, even though it might garner him some major kudos (and a few raspberries no doubt).

No, in the paper today it says it is something federal, the premier didn't even know about it. It's not that. lol.

Well considering he just dumped 200 million into roads in New Brunswick, and he is still leader of a minority government, it's not unreasonable to think that he is in Halifax with a fat budget-surplus cheque book at the ready. I doubt it's for a stadium too but it's nice to dream once in a whle

some native tribe used to live on the land where shannon park is located (stadium site), but when the halifax explosion happened it wiped out almost all of them, and the few survivors were relocated to some other place less desirable.

i was always wondering which reserve in nova scotia would be the first to step it up and build a huge casino and all that stuff. the millbrook reserve in truro will probably end up doing that.. they've made millions already with that new highway commercial strip west of truro going into halifax, with that multiplex theatre, gas stations, a&w/subway, hotels etc.
