Brody Mcknight Pro Day Results

Congratulations to Brody on his fantastic Pro Day.

100% On Fg's 2 40 , 2 45, 3 50, 2 55's, 1 60 - kickoffs 8+ deep 4.2 +hang, Punts 53 + 4.8 hang, and 24 reps on the benchpress.

With those 50 yard kicks, he looks like an NFL candidate to me!!

... Et dans la LCF aussi!

Ne perdons pas de vue que le travail de botteur est souvent plus compliqué dans la LCF à cause des stades plus petits et plus ouverts.

En tout cas, il s'est sûrement fait de nouveaux amis à cette occasion.

He was not projected as a draft pick before his pro day but with results like that it will generate interest, no question.

Based on latest Pro Football Weekly player rankings for upcoming NFL draft, Brody McKnight is not listed amongst the 11 best placekickers nor the 7 best punters. The best rated punter is expected to be drafted between rounds fifth and seventh, whereas 2 other punters and 2 placekickers are expected to be drafted in rounds 6 or 7. Only 5 of the 18 best are expected to be drafted.

Brody could be signed as a free agent or sign with the Als.

Please indulge a little reminiscing, but there is an interesting Alouette connection to the Pro Football Weekly draft ratings. The first 2 people to fill that role were 2 brothers, Carl and Peter Marasco, neither of whom had any football background (I believe they were insurance salesmen), who were amazingly accurate in their rankings.

Peter was hired by Marv Levy in the mid 70`s as Alouettes Player Personnel Director and was here for a couple of years before moving on to the New York Jets.

Carl went on to both the USFL and NFL.

As per the 2012 NFL Draft Preview, prepared by Nolan Nowrocki and the Editors of Pro Football Weekly, Brody McKnight is ranked 19th amongst placekickers and graded 4.45; " could be in an NFL training camp but will likely need time in a development league".

I doubt that he will be signed as a NFL free agent in 2012; I expect him to sign with the Als sometime in May 2012.

Once he signs that will make it a very interesting situation...

His agent Gil Scott has tweeted McKnight going to Jets. I guess we`ll have to wait awhile.

Jets have signed veteran kicker Josh Brown to compete with Nick Folk.

Not good news for McKnight, good news for the Als.

According to the Jets website McKnight was invited to the Jets mini-camp on a tryout basis only, he was not signed to a contract.

Also according to the Jets website, he was not one of the tryout players signed to a contract after the mini-camp.

So based on my several years of watching Colombo episodes, I will state that McKnight is free to sign with the Als.
