BOYCOTT ROGERS!

Everything I have is Bell, but I've been getting pissed off with the service so I might have to switch to Rogers...

How about Star choice Im not familiar with the other stuff out there.

Everything I have is Bell, but I've been getting pissed off with the service so I might have to switch to Rogers...
I've also been having problems with Bell, but the other choices our there are telus (maybe not in your area), or like fido.....and now that my wife was going to get me an iphone it seems like it's either rogers or fido.

I will not be giving Rogers my money, even if it means getting a blackberry instead of an iphone.

I currently have a Roger's cell phone, and I have decided that when the contract expires I will not be renewing... and if they ask why, I will say it is due to the policy regarding the CFL.

I will be happily switching over to Sasktel , which my internet is through as well. Sasktel also happens to be a major supporter of the Riders, so all the better.

I envy you, ro. Unfortunately, it’s all Rogers and Bell over here. I’m going to have to do some digging to find another provider. I hate both.

Awesome!

I cant comment on rogers but as for Bell, I have no complaints what so ever…
I get excelent service from both phone and TV

I am going to bring a sign to every CFL game this year. Saying "Ted Rogers can kiss my ass". I can only hope I get to see him in public because I have no problem punching him in the face and taking an assault charge for.

My cell phone is with Bell, and the bill is outrageous. Maybe I should have tried to get a better plan, who knows... but I doubt I'll be resigning with them.

And I also don't care for their traffic shaping policies.

Well I did my part! I ran over my Rogers phone. The problem I locked the keys in my vehicle. But I sure do feel good. Off to Telus tomorrow. Did I mention that my contract ran out a couple of months so I was paying by the month. No more Rogers. Yes red no syrup no sugar etc. I am sweet guy already do not need any more sweetness.

While I realize taking on Rogers is not much of an option, for me its better than possibly losing the CFL and then regretting that I didn't try. After some researching, its also a lot like trying not to buy anything made in China, as Ted Rogers has his teeth into everything Canadian. However, chocolate eaters (sugar) and pancake lovers (syrup) can rejoice! (dont look now, but Teddy wants them too!)

Here's a list of Rogers holdings .....

Rogers Cable
Rogers Yahoo
Rogers Video Stores
FIDO
CPAC (shouldn't it be wrong for a private individual to own 41% of Canada's Public Affairs Channel?)
Rogers Home Phone (previously Sprint Canada and Call-Net Enterprises)
CityTV stations
OMNI
Sportsnet
The Shopping Channel
Toronto Blue Jays
Rogers Center
Rogers Publishing - magazines include .... Macleans, Canadian Business, Today's Parent, Chatelaine, Flare, Money Sense, Profit 100, Enfants ....
51 radio stations including .... all JackFM stations, CHFI and CFTR in Toronto.

Its a long list! However, I'm sure TSN would love nothing better than to show a group of fans with "BOYCOTT ROGERS" t-shirts or signs, most likely all sanctioned by the CFL! Perhaps we can start a groundswell of support before the broadcasts begin next week? It could all start this Thursday!

If not, then I'll just be one dork bringing a sign that most Canadians wont understand anyways, since they're too busy listening to JackFM as they text on their FIDO phone while downloading the internet as they walk to the video store to rent a movie and buy their copy of Chatelaine.

Oh well, I least I can die knowing I gave it a shot for the league I love.

CFL OR DEATH!!!!!!

Smooth it on
Or pour it on
Rogers Golden Syrup

D’oh! I mean I totally knew that. Thanks for the correction, sorry about the misinformation.

Pretty much the Sun media chain are pro CFL...
Canada.com/Global.....suddenly are a champion of CFL (losing NFL/Asper involvement in Bombers)
Then on the other side of the fence you have Rodgers who are anti CFL.... (how much longer Taylor and McNown have jobs is debateable
Then your fence sitters are CTV/TSN/Globeand mail.... beter known as BCE... they are kind of fence sitters because TSN own CFL rights..... Yet CTV owns NFL rights...
Can something clarify something to me.... How is it that MLSE gets lumped in with BCE? Am I misunderstanding this?

JUST FOR CLARIFICATION ......

[/b]BOYCOTT ROGERS!

BCE owns a stake in MLSE, that would be why they get lumped in there.

I am quite surprised by those of you who think that economic influences will have no effect. The reality is quite the contrary. It is said in government that 1 letter to your MP is like 5,000 constituents expressing the same view. In business, the concept is the same, except that it is expressed in dollars, revenues and customers/market share.

Squeaky wheels do get grease. Companies are heavily influenced by the psychology of their markets (remember Rogers' "reverse billing" or Telus removing direct access to porn on their wireless network? - they stopped these practices solely because of customer backlash). Companies operate on a profit basis. When they have to decide between two diametrically opposed courses of action, they will tend toward the one that turns the largest profit (or has the lowest loss).

While I agree that it is questionable whether there are enough fans, or if there are, whether there are enough who will speak up and then carry through to make Rogers' cost-benefit analysis tip away from pursuing their NFL master plan, the scale is guaranteed not to tip if no one does anything ... typically Canadian, the home of apathy.

Even if you do not have or consume any Rogers products at the moment, a customer that they don't get is the same as a customer lost; i.e. both equal no revenues. So, even just writing the company to say that you will not consider Rogers when your current cell phone contract expires or you were thinking of subscribing to Macleans but will no longer do so or whatever, will have an impact.

Don't ever underestimate the power of people when they band together - good thing, or democracy would be a failure.

leaglebeagle - great post

...although located in Everett WA, Rogers Carpets hasn't hurt the CFL at all...

I went back and found what I wrote to them (https://your.rogers.com/contact/contactus_main.asp - don't know if the link will work for everyone), for what it is worth:

"This is a message for the president of Rogers.

I am a strong supporter of Canada and, in particular of the CFL. At the outset, I think the best way for the CFL to survive is to continue to improve on its great product and promot it, regardless of what happens with another league. So, while I do not share in the doomsday scenario that many are predicting for the CFL if you succeed in bringing an NFL team to Toronto, it does increase the risk of that event happening. I, for one, do not think a single corporation should have the power to impose on the country that risk. I am just one person and the best way to counter that power is with the little economic power I hold myself, and to influence whoever I can to do the same.

Thus, I will not be renewing the subcriptions that my wife's business has with several Rogers-owned magazines. Further, I will not consider Rogers as an alternative when selecting other products in your lines of business.

Until I see an official press release indicating that you are dropping your foray to bring an NFL team to Canada, I will continue this position. Conversely, if I see such a press release, I undertake to renew the subscriptions noted above and will even consider giving Rogers preferencial treatment if I am in the market for other products that your company sells.

Quite frankly, I just don't get why a Canadian company such as yours, whose audience/market is Canadians, is not at least supporting Canadian identity by promoting the CFL at the same time that you pursue your NFL endeavour. Baffling, really."

did they respond?

corporations listen to NOTHING else but the bottom line. if thousands threaten to impact that and even follow through, they'll change their tune.

BOYCOTT ROGERS!

I used websitefeedbackw@rci.rogers.com and they did respond.
