Boreham Benched: Bye Bye Bound?

It's never good when you're a player and your job security is directly determined by the play of someone else and not you.

How so, Zontar? The play of Mark Myers, or the play of the offence in general? (not trying to be confrontational here)

Myers tanks and Boreham cheats the hangman for another week and the search goes on.

or

Myers does well and Jamie gets bus fare and a sandwich.

It says Myers can punt too. Hope Flemming noticed it aswell.

Boreham needs to go. He has not hit anything that has mattered all season. But the one thing he has done is lose a game or two for us. I hope Myers does well and can punt the ball. Fleming is garbage too. I have been practicing and think I could punt better then Fleming. Avg. of 32.9 yrds and he's a pro. come on now. :thdn:

Welcome to this crazy little thing called pro sports: produce or perish.

There are other industries with similar philosophies and it all works out for the best.

This is amusing, Myers has a carrer college % of roughly 72 (which is one point above Borehams % last year), Myers has made (in game) 6 kicks over 40 yards during his entire carrer.

I’d also like to note that Boreham’s would be at (if you take away the 0-3 Montreal game) 75% right now. Not trying to take away from such a “Big Name Player” coming to play (don’t get me wrong, I do hope he plays well, I hope any player that wears the Black and Gold plays well, even if it means saying goodbye to my favourite player).

I’m wondering what happened to all the Fleming supporters. Wasn’t he supposed to be “amazing” at punting? Note his punting average is the EXACT same as Jamie’s was last year *Note Fleming punts the ball down the MIDDLE of the field (while Jamie angled his kicks) these punts cause for large returns, and poor net yardage. Although Fleming’s net punting is .8 yards better then Boreham’s was last year, at least this year we have SOME special teams coverage.

Go Cats Go! Let’s Get ‘W’ #1

That number is NET yardage (which is low due to lack of distance and lack of angling)
His punt distance average is 39.6 yards.

Change can be good. If Myers can do the job great, if not keep on looking. As for Jamie, how many chances does one get to keep his job? IMO, he's had too many already.

It is clear that the Ticats need much more accuracy from their field goal kicker, whether it be from Jamie Boreham, Mark Myers or someone else. However, it should be also be noted that Boreham is currently 1st in the CFL in kickoff distance with a 62.7 yard average. Therefore, even if Myers or someone else wins the field goal kicking job, Boreham may still have enough versatility to remain on the active roster as a kickoff specialist, special teams tackler, and backup punter/field goal kicker.

  • I don't think so, lol.

I'm waiting for the nickname Myers girl to be used.

I'm sure you won't have to wait too long. In fact I'm surprised they missed out on ruffingirl

tootragic...you are classic....what a great line..."meyers girl"!! you're the man!!

After seeing the title of this thread, I wondered if Ken Peters started frequenting these forums. But then I realized that it could not have been from him, as this alliteration was not obviously forced.

:)

Anyway, my opinion has been that Boreham may be one bad game away from getting benched in favour of Myers. But it does appear that Myers right now is one bad game away from going the way of Chuck Tack. We'll see how Myers does. This decision to gice Boreham serious competition at the placekicking position IMHO is somewhat overdue.

But this is an interesting point:

And last year, as you can see if you click here, Boreham was fourth-best in kickoff average. We could see how Myers does here, but perhaps Boreham could be kept on as a kickoff specialist. I understand that's the kind of position Bret Anderson holds in B.C. And you know I think we could do better on limiting opponents kickoff returns so lack of kickoff length may not matter as much.

And it'll be interesting to revisit this thread after tomorrow.

bobyoungfan...bret anderson is mr versatility for the lions....boreham will not be kept on the team for ko's only....to play another position as others have suggested...he is TOO SMALL...TOO SLOW....

I understand that Bret Anderson is also a backup receiver and so I wondered if there was any other position Boreham could play. I thought he could be used as a special teams tackler. Will the team keep him around in that kind of limited role? One also has to consider his salary when thinking of this.

Jamie is not even remotely close to a special teams player. It's kick or the highway.

It's only like the fourth time I've read this dig at borehamgirl. Not original, not necessary. Time to find another milk bucket...

Good luck to Mark Myers tonight!

Oski Wee Wee,

Oski Wee Wee,

that was not meant as a dig - just an observation that many people have used a knock off of the nickname "borehamgirl".
