...I agree dan...good post by blogskee...HOWEVER ....There can be no blame laid totally at the feet of wolverine...He was only coming to the defence of the new stadium and discrediting a bunch of nonsense from a B.C. media article and tweet of all things....You need to look no furthur than the author of this thread to see a little 'poop' stirring going on...He's just disappointed that Mont. is not in the Grey Cup picture for quite awhile...Can't let those Bombers and their new stadium look too good ya know ...although it'll be a credit to the whole CFL, when they award the Cup game to the Peg....lol lol right hfxtc....
Agreed Papa… Nobody laid blame on Wolverine. What he said was correct. I think the gist of Blogs post was that we should be happy with the situation now. Basically 3 new stadiums. And I hope a 4th for Regina. Things look good for the league.
Yes, that’s exactly what I meant. We should be celebrating these new stadia, not using the BS surrounding them - huge loan in Winnipeg; idiocy among city council, etc. in Hamilton - as a reason to further the Winnipeg-Hamilton feud. We should be happy both cities are getting new places to play and keep the “Winnipeg Sucks”/“Hamilton Sucks” stuff to what takes place on the field. You better believe that as a citizen of Hamilton, it was damn embarrassing to have that stadium debate drag on as long as it did. And anyone who says the deal was almost blown is correct. But the key word in there is “almost.” So what if it took longer to get the deal done, the deal got done. Same thing in Winnipeg; so what if it took a year longer for the stadium to be ready or that they owe a ton of money, it’s ready now and that’s all that matters. So let’s keep the silliness of stadium debates, loans and construction overruns to the politics sites and concentrate on the one HUGE positive thing that actually has something to do with football: brand new stadia in Hamilton and Winnipeg (and soon Ottawa and Regina).

Not at all. I was surprised as anybody. I am not the one who took this thread off topic. TC23 and a couple of yours.

Acutally, TC23 baited me on his nonsense and i bit when I should’ve just ignored him. Bottom line is that every team will have stadium, personnel, and other issues, teams will even do things that tick off their fans. Those happen, yet we remain loyal fans to our chosen teams and we are all passionate about this league and its future. I should’ve just stuck to my original purpose which was for HfxTC to verify the source for this topic he created and ignored TC. HfxTC had no verification but presented twitter rumour and its not unreasonable to ask him for the facts or call him on his BS. Twitter “facts” had Kackert signing with the NY jets just last week and we all know how that worked out.
For those interested, here’s the bombers word on the subject:
"No decision has been announced regarding the host city for the 2014 Grey Cup. I can tell you from the Winnipeg Blue Bomber perspective that any reports that suggest we wouldn’t be able to host the 2014 Grey Cup due to financial restrictions are incorrect. What is factual is that it is sometimes better for the overall status of the organization when you are dealing with a brand new facility, to work out the kinks and get fully acclimated to the new facility before hosting a major event such as the Grey Cup. But financial drawbacks on us possibly hosting in 2014 were not and are not a concern whatsoever. We are in a great financial position to host this event whenever it is appropriate for us to do so."
It’s quite possible and maybe even likely that BC hosts in 2014, but at no point was Winnipeg confirmed as the host for that year and there was nothing to say they would or would not host in 2014, especially not that they were bowing out because they were broke. And I like pointed out and Blueblood also stated, hosting the game is a financial windfall that the team could use towards paying that stadium loan so why would they not pay the CFL for the rights of the game, which if I’m not mistaken is only around $3 mil when they can recoup 4-5x that. And there’s no going back to CanadInns, the place has been gutted.
…Bombers turn down Cup cuz they’re broke…Well it seems that the Bombers are far from broke, according to Bomber management and the press in Wpg. who ‘actually’ have a better handle on things…AND the baloney saying we won’t be ready is coming from an underling in the Bomber office NOT Garth Butchko who is in charge and not available for comment…I’ll wait till Butchko makes a statement regarding the game before I put ANY creedence to this phoney speculation…
Buchko kept promising the bombers would move into the new stadium for such a long time last season, even when it was clear to everyone that was not gonna happen. And yet I would agree with you, anything he has to say would have a lot more credibility that HfxTC.
And if you're Rogers with the billions they have, they can lose all they want on the teams they own or pretend to own, and it doesn't matter at all. It's about "branding" or advertising, whatever way they want to spin what they want to do as part of their philosophy or mandate is to show everyone this is who we are, and who we want to try and destroy as business competitors.

Well look at what we have here.

Bottom line the team is taking away from football ops to pay for other stuff. Buchko admits they spend 300k less then the any other teams. What he does not say is that the team is also still paying for Lapolice so in reality they are spending 600k less on coaching staff than other teams at least for this year and next. So while the board hogs the money the end result is that football ops are BROKE. There you go.
…Sure is nice eh blueblood when people get the facts straight…Even are local scribes (who are not quite on the money most times) need to really do some proper fact finding…Listen to Irving to get the ‘real’ accurate story’ on the club
Result is the same according to that article. So if the Bombers have 300k less to work with than probably the next cheapest team, last year would have been even more of a mismatch no ? But I posted up the article because I think it was Wolverine who complained that the article did not come from Winnipeg. This one does and its pretty straight forward. As for the 7 million it does not mean much if it has to be kept as a contingency or disbursed once the stadium is delivered… Let’s hope the new stadium brings in the extra revenues hoped for. I think it will.
Seems we`re not totally broke .....Bombers have just added to their coaching staff today...Carl Franks has been hired as the new DB coach...He has extensive experience in ncaa and was previously working with the Tennesee Titans over the summer...Good friend of Craig Dickensen and if he turns out to be anything like Craig we found a good one....
