Bombers/Stamps

Probably. It is easier to start fresh and everyone has heard Irving promote Dave Dickenson but don’t be surprised if he’s given the HC position in Calgary and Huf pull a Buono, we’ll see… I would not be surprised to see Burke end up as DC in Edmonton or LB coach in Montreal if Nelson goes back to Edmonton.

.....Mr. Tim says the reason we were so bad in Cal., was that trade rumours involving Hall threw the team off kilter ?? I guess the whole team must have been rumoured to be traded and would explain this train wreck of a club, from the get go....Off kilter  One of the biggest things to go off the rails was the coaching Tim....never mind trade rumours...Thank goodness Burke can't use that one after the 9th...

I don't know how they could possibly keep Burke next year moving him back to DC. It's pretty rare that a HC who does not have the "interim" prefix maintains a job in any capacity after a new HC is brought in. Could happen but chances are pretty remote.

I liked Burke for the most part as a DC. As a HC I thought he was in over his head but a little part of me hoped he'd figure it out. I thought coming into the year Creehan would do better. He and Burke worked well together a couple seasons ago when their D helped carry the Bombers to the Grey Cup. And thought some of his issues in Hamilton was because he just didn't have good players. Neither has worked out this year. Worse yet, with Burke, some of his reasoning for things going on over the last few weeks, some of his decisions or the way some guys have played, is just bizarre. I thought he was supposed to bring in a new level of accountability and all it seems to be lately is just weak excuses.

Regarding the game itself-

Bombers Oline seemingly played one of their better games giving up only one sack. A bit misleading since Calgary got a lot of pressures and QB hits. But the run blocking was noticeably improved.

Ford has a big day, even seeming to pick up 4-5 yards on his shorter carries, the line is doing a good job run blocking, the passing game is struggling, and so they give him only 11 carries on the game? Even worse, with so few carries they were using Ford to pass block the rest of the time and his pass blocking was absolutely horrible. I realize they were well behind but the way he was running he could've put them in second and short a lot more often than the second and longs they faced thanks to the pass game. Mindboggling. Despite his big game, until he can show that he can block someone instead of getting beat or pushed into the QB over and over he can't be a full time starter.

I thought they kept saying Marty Markett was probably the fastest guy on the field but I noticed Stamp receivers blow by him and get separation pretty easily. Jovo with a bad angle on Cornish's first long rushing TD. D was terrible at tackling all nite long. Greg Peach has all but disappeared since his first couple of games as a Bomber.

Nice to see Sears back and play a full game. I thought that penalty was bogus. Not hard to try imagine how much impact he could've had on this D if he'd played all year. Whether at SAM or DB he's one guy I'd like to see back next year for sure.

…I agree on Peach… Playing too soft…he seems to have reverted to the play that got him tossed in the hammer…I also agree about the call on Sears…He plays the game the way it should be played and gets penalized for it. :thdn: Maybe the refs. thought that he shouldn’t look like a football player, rather he should play kind of moussey like the rest of the club :lol:Bogus is right…Sears should be back and if he’s healthy for the most part next year can lead this D…

Sears plays with an attitude but is yet another that can't seem to stay healthy. Takes some really dumb penalties as well, although the helmet to helmet hit from the last game didn't look intentional.
