The post-game highlight for me was Willie Jefferson’s apology to his grandmother for missing her birthday.

“Sorry Grandma, I was workin’.”

BC has gone from one of the best teams in the league to the worst team in the league in just over half a season.
I can see why Rourke flamed out in the NFL.
BC now has two starting QB’s that throw more INT’s than TD’s.

I think both Rourke and VA will get much better once they realize that they won’t have to face the Bombers defense again in the regular season.

I think the Bombers played a good game but everyone needs to put this game into perspective. Nathan only had 3 days to adjust to the BC game and players. I seriously believe with more time Rourke will perform much better than in this game. It takes time to develop rhythm with the Lion’s receivers but they are good pros and within a game or two more things will come together. Stay tuned !

All things considered Rourke played about as well as I expected him to. Watch out for him - Winnipeg was lucky to play him on his first game back, only 3 practises, coming off a roller coaster of nfl teams over the last year.

Big win tonight for Winnipeg with Edmonton gaining momentum. Offence and defence are scary, in two very different ways. Got to find a way to unlock this offence some more, but great to see the defence locking it down!

Exactly Correct!

Not just that. BC doesn’t see another western conference team until Week 18. While the rest of the west teams see enough of each other to beat the tar out of each other in the meantime.

CFL West Division now a log jam with all 5 teams in the mix for a 2024 playoff spot. The second half of the season will weed out the pretenders from the contenders with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, BC Lions, Edmonton Elks leading the charge.

Eventually his play will level out as the defensive coordinator learns his tendencies

I’ll say this, Bomber fans never disappoint. So many teams, like Edmonton, TO, Calgary, Sask, pretty much everyone, has lost multiple games by 1 or 2 or 3 points. The Bombers are a legit 4-6 team; no one is scared of Winnipeg. Sorry. (And only Cgy and Wpg have not had to rely on their backup QBs… like I said, no one is scared.)
After week 1, of 44 games, only 20 were decided by 7 points or more. It’s anyone’s season.

Of course most posters are going to say that now. Before this game, most had predicted a BC win and Rourke would pick up where he left off two years ago. People changed their bets and picks when they found out Rourke was going to play.
If a 3rd stringer had played like that, people would be demanding his firing.
You have to feel sorry for him, so much pressure on the guy, especially now that he’s the highest paid player in the league.
He wasn’t ready to start but they had no choice since the 3rd stringer had never played before.

Actually, of the Bombers 6 losses, 4 were decided by 11 points for an average of less than 3 point losses. And two were in OT. But you’re right, no one WAS scared of Winnipeg.

Zach was hurt earlier in the year and was knocked out of one game and Streveler started and played the next game, a win over Ottawa. I think Calgary is the only team that hasn’t had to rely on a back up yet this year.

And yet the green guys are still in first place in da west

Very interesting last half of the season about to get served up.
Bombers in the thick of the fight. BC has some fight in the tank
Riders have had struggles
Elk looking tight and good
Calgary looking very good too but struggling for W’s

Adams was off in the Calgary and Winnipeg games but I thought Dolagala played well in the Esks game. The Esks are a bruising, physical team who can beat anyone.

Rourke obviously had a bad nite at the orifice as Ray Jauch used to say.

But I noticed why the kid is gonna have a stellar career.

  • He’s slipperier than hell. Notice how he can turn on his Jets suddenly to escape a 300lb. bear wrapping him up
  • He can hoist a long ball with the best of them, although most of them were a bit off course last nite
  • He has good demeanour, even in lite of one of his worst games in college or in the pros

Lots of work left to do. Then end is not near for Nathan Rourke.

I know many people probably will disagree, but I think Campbell has to put Adams back to starting QB. Not because Rourke isnt good enough but because Adams was having an MOP season that he should be able to continue.
