Bombers release Albert Johnson III

He would be worth a look but would have to return to form to make it out of training camp.

Bombers release Albert Johnson III

Although the Bombers have released Albert Johnson III, he believes he could play for another CFL club.

FLIGHT 87 has been grounded by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Albert Johnson III, dubbed Flight 87 in his first tenure with the Bombers in 2000 for his ability to break huge returns on punts and kickoff returns, told the Winnipeg Free Press this afternoon the Bombers have released him from the CFL club only a few days before he was due to receive a contract bonus on Feb. 1.

And he said they broke the news to him long after his requested Dec. 31 date that he be told whether the team wanted him back in 2008.

"Ah, man. What do you do?" Johnson -- also know as A.J. -- told the Free Press from his insurance business in Texas. He said the writing was on the wall when the Bombers, whose special teams had been struggling all season, brought in Keith Stokes at the end of last season and benched him.
