Bombers QB Situation

That’s the question they should have been asking in November. We’re coming into April and there has been no apparent attempt to fix the problem. My feeling is if we go into the season with Buck it’s next year country and I like Buck the man.

Brink and Elliot have never been given the shot at actually being the starting QB every time they needed to play do to a Pierce injury they were told that when buck is helthy he will play because he gives us the best chance to win. Even though Joey Elliot was Offensive player of the week twice last season.
So really thats not giving them a real shot.
Now if they said Buck is done he is going to finish the year on the IR and one of you two will have the chance to win the starting job not just for the rest of this disaterous season but for 2013 as well.
But they did not they are still namong Buck Pierce as the starting QB it is ridiculous. how does anyone in charge of anything that has to do with football personal still has a job by contining to count on buck Pierce has a job is ridiculous.

They both played multiple games last year and didn’t do enough to grab the no 1. Brink still on roster and may still get another shot. Elliot, to slow and was the coaching staff, felt he wasn’t going to progress in to the starters role. Unless , you have more pro coaching experience than Burke, I’ll go with his call on this one

Ugh, so sick of this Elliott was two time offensive player of the week stuff. Sure he won it twice, but he finished 2-5 as a starter and in weeks he wasn't lights out the bombers lost.

Starting Buck in 2013 is ridiculous cflsteve? This sound any better:
Cut buck like you want and give the starting job to a guy who was 2-5 last year as a starter, 5TD-12INT ratio, was most outstanding offensive player his first start then failed to lead the team to an offensive touchdown for the next four games, including a 52-0 drubbing in Regina and a 44-3 shellacking in Calgary. Bucks not being given the reins as the starter for 2013. In fact, based on comments from Mack and Burke it seems that he's their back up plan in case none of Brink, Goltz, or either of the two new guys they bring in (they said they want 5 guys in camp which would mean 2 new faces) fail to take the job. You want someone other than buck? Three or four guys will be given every opportunity to show Burke and Mack its time to put Buck to pasture. The odds are in favour of someone other than Buck starting game 1 in 2013 so I really don't think there's anything to complain about.

Right now he’s the best the Bombers have and if they can protect him, he can win games but they need to give him lights out pass protection and he needs to get ride of the ball instead of eating it.

Yes and no. You never want your starting QB, regardless of who he is, to take shots, especially like some of the gratuitous shots he was taking last year. Unfortunately those shots haven’t always been the ones that have landed him on the disabled list. That elbow injury in Regina last year when he landed on it awkwardly for instance. The start of last season was a rough one for Buck as he was under constant pressure and ended up suffering that leg injury in the opening game in BC. Didn’t help that 3/5 of the Oline was new personnel and one of the other 2/5 was Greaves who up until only a couple years ago was a Dlineman. Some stability on the Oline finally got it playing well in the latter half of the season and hopefully they can build on that going into 2013 and give whoever starts good protection.
