The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have hired John Murphy, who was the assistant GM with the Stampeders last year and founded Next Level Scouting in 1999, as their new GM. Former Ticat player personnel staffers Mike McCarthy, Dan Rambo and Craig Smith were apparently among a list of seven people who were interviewed for the job by Bomber executives Lyle Bauer and Russ Hodgkinson last week in Mobile, Alabama during the Senior Bowl festivities.

You are right, deiz.
A personnel job from afar is one thing
{Obie did that for years for B.C.]
but a G.M. job is a whole ‘other kettle of fish.’
Rambo better wait until an Ottawa opportunity
as a G.M comes a knocking at his door.
According to this report, new Bombers' GM/player personnel director John Murphy is embarking on a scouting trip to recruit and assess players. Murphy makes an interesting comment that some CFL teams "let players drip down to them from other places" and he will be taking a much more pro-active approach.
