WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers added some experience to their receiving corps today with the addition of Shockmain Davis to the team’s developmental roster. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Davis (6-0, 206, Angelo State ’99, DOB: Aug. 20, 1977 in Port Arthur, Texas) attended training camp with the Toronto Argonauts earlier this year and was one of the team’s final pre-season cuts.
Prior to his time in Toronto, Davis spent parts of two seasons with the Green Bay Packers (2004-05). In 2004 he was allocated to the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe, where he hauled in 27 catches for 331 yards and one touchdown. He was named to the All-NFL Europe team as a special teams player, leading the league in kick returns with 10 returns for 571 yards and two TDs. He finished the year with 926 combined yards.
Davis also spent time with the NFL’s New England Patriots (2000-03) after signing with the club as an undrafted free agent. He appeared in 12 games in his rookie season, including one start, and had two receptions for 12 yards.
“With the recent injury setback of Albert Johnson III, we needed a wide receiver to come in and give us another option,? said Bombers G.M. Brendan Taman.
“After seeing Shockmain in NFL Europe, we thought he was the best available guy to bring in, especially since he already knows the CFL from when he was in Toronto’s camp.?
Ya thats right pigeseye, he would have to drink rocket fuel to produce those stats.....oh well we give him a try, you never know ...he might be a gem..
