Bombers' defence continues 4th-quarter dominance

EDMONTON — The first-place Winnipeg Blue Bombers became the first team to clinch a post-season spot with their 26-16 win over the Edmonton Elks on Friday night, and their defence secured the win once again by shutting the door with the game on the line in the fourth quarter.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated the Edmonton Elks by a final score of 26-16 in Week 11 at Commonwealth Stadium. It was there 3rd victory over my Elks this year. The Elks have now lost 5 in a row  The Bombers have won 7 straight, and are 9-1 on the season. Congratulations to the Bombers for clinching a playoff spot in this 2021 season :bangbang:

Outscoring your opponent 91-6 in the 4th quarter is pretty crazy. 9 games where the opponent scored 0 points. Bombers just locked it down in the 4th

The Elks fought hard last night which was nice to see. Props to Taylor Cornelius for being the first QB to throw a TD pass on the Bombers in 28 quarters. Something Michael Reilly and Cody the great have yet to do this season. The Bomber D is dominant and quite possibly the greatest of all time in the CFL...... the numbers back this up. Tough to lose Harris, but Oliveira filled in just fine with his 100+ rushing yards in a half. Just another ho hum Bomber victory......Go Blue!!

If you consider the most important statistic to be limiting the points scored by the opposition, then the Bombers are at present the best defence in CFL history. We'll see if they can hold that through the year. It will be difficult to stay in kill mode and they will also likely rest players on a rotating basis. Although not mathematically clinched, let's face it, the Bombers will finish first and host the Western final. There are only two meaningful games left for the Bombers, the Western final and the Grey Cup.

Taylor Cornelius may be better than a lot of Edmonton fans think. Right now they're calling for heads to be taken. They want to clean house. Next year behind a better offensive line and with better coaching... Cornelius could be 'the guy'. :+1:

Where were all the spoiled rotten Elk fans last night? It looked like an Argo's crowd. They can't manage to buy championships anymore like they used to so you all took your ball and stayed home?

He absolutely should be too. The only thing that needs coaching is his decision making. They mentioned during the half time that he needs to not always go for big plays when they need 1st downs and there is an option that keeps them on the field he tends to try the big plays. After he gets more reps though and the game slows down for him with experience I think he could be their starter.

Like you said he just needs coaching and help from the O-line. The coach should have kept him in for that 3rd and 1 they needed yesterday because they had a chance to tie the game

'Where were they?' You KNOW the answer to that question. All those stressed out Elk fans were in a rut.

By 'rut' I mean they were at home making out.
