Bombers, Als Injury Reports: Oliveira, Schoen miss Tue. practice

TORONTO — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Montreal Alouettes have shared their first injury reports of the week ahead of their game on Saturday at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://www.cfl.ca/2023/06/27/bombers-als-injury-reports-oliveira-schoen-miss-tue-practice

Add 4 more starters in Lawler, Wilson, Rose, Parker, as well as Miller, Burtenshaw & Hansen.
With Lawrence hurt they had to bring back another DB from training camp

Hopefully some are back soon.

Pretty strange that every week the Bombers on the list are all posted QUESTIONABLE and then most end up playing . Even more strange is the ones who practise 2 - 3 days in a row are listed QUESTIONABLE not as playing. Certainly learned from last year that can’t trust O’Shea to post the truth. Most other teams you can be more sure of the status.

Nah, O’Shea has just turned injury reports into a form of game strategy!
Sure helped last week vs. the Lions, didn’t it?

Ooohhh! Game Strategy ! Like violating the Salary Cap rules was game strategy too eh?

Yea I think his game Strategy needs an injection of new tricks.

Everyone has caught on to the old ones !

LOL

A coach puts the health and safety ahead of the demands of oddsmakers, gamblers and “pundits” and he gets criticized for that?

I agree. The criticism of these critics is totally unfair.

By the way, have we declared all of our players listed in the injury report ‘ready to play’ like usual yet?

Do you want to explain how falsely reporting the status of his team players is putting the health and safety ahead of league requirements?

I could understand your comment if O’Shea was reporting them ready to play and forcing a hurt player on the field as affecting their health

and safety. But am puzzled how honestly reporting their status for fan information is wrong.

Other coaches appear to honestly report their team player status as required. How is that putting the players health and safety in harm’s way?

I mean it is just an advanced report for fan information. Nothing is binding about the report. It isn’t the game depth chart publish 24 hrs before the game.

And likewise violating the salary Cap rules, how does that put harm on player’s health and safety?

If anything it puts harm on the league by encouraging other teams to violate rules they don’t like.

I have to admit that I don’t know the precise language of all the rules in question. My impression was that once a player was listed as OUT that prevented him from dressing for the upcoming game. If that is incorrect I must apologize and thank you for educating me on that.

On the question of salary cap rules, I didn’t mention that at all. So why did you bring it up?

My post before you made your confusing post

Then you responded with:

A coach puts the health and safety ahead of the demands of oddsmakers, gamblers and “pundits” and he gets criticized for that?

You were responding to that and it contained reference to both the injury report as well as the violation of the Salary Cap

But I did not specifically say anything about the injury report

Since your response did not make sense to me I covered both the injury report as well as the violation of the salary cap

Neither in my opinion affects the player health and safety. And I stated that fact in my previous post to you… But both violate league rules.

Both by O’Shea. Rules that are supposed to be complied with by ALL teams, including the BOMBERS

He ALWAYS brings up salary cap rules. Even when discussing insurance rates in Algeria he brings up salary cap rules. Just be prepared with an answer and nobody gets shot.

I know that you mentioned cap rules in your post, but I didn’t even feel it necessary to refer to them in my post. I was only commenting on injury reports.

Yeah, I know. I think he may have once mentioned it while commenting on the Chinese “weather balloon.”

Bighill missed all three practices this week but is listed as Questionable. That’s a bit odd. Usually, missing a week’s practice is a clear indication that you’re not going to play.

The other entries all seem legit to me.

Just assume that all of the veterans who are listed as DNP on our roster will suit up come game day. Biggy will be there. We still have recently declared ‘fit for action’ Jackson Jeffcoat listed on our 6 game IR for Pete’s sake.

With Bighill’s experience running a couple laps on his own each day may be sufficient if he has healed a bit.

His issue is listed as non-football-related, so he may be dealing with some personal issues this week. In which case, it makes more sense that he hasn’t been ruled out for tomorrow’s game.

Sometimes accounting run a little behind raéality.

Bomber released their depth chart 5 hours ago.

And suddenly our secondary shows up in one piece, our pass rush is looking awesome, our running game is 100% and our receiving corps is as deadly as it was to start the season.

Our injury reports are garbage.
