BLUE BOMBERS ANNOUNCE PLANS FOR SPECIALTY LICENCE PLATES
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are excited to announce, in conjunction with Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) and the Province of Manitoba, that new Blue Bomber specialty licence plates will soon be available for Bomber fans everywhere.
The Blue Bomber licence plate initiative – to be administered by MPI – will be implemented on a pilot basis with a limited edition specialty plate being released prior to the start of the 2011 Canadian Football League season.
“We’re very pleased to announce this initiative in partnership with the Province of Manitoba and Manitoba Public Insurance,? said Blue Bomber President Jim Bell. “This is another great opportunity for fans across the province to show their Bomber pride.?
“Fans of the Blue Bombers are passionate about their football team,? said Andrew Swan, Minister Responsible for Manitoba Public Insurance. “MPI will be working closely with the Winnipeg Football Club and other stakeholders to ensure the licence plate reflects the proud history of the Club and meets the needs of all partners.?
It’s expected that interested fans will be able to visit any of Manitoba’s more than 300 Autopac agents in order to place their orders and receive their plates once they become available in early June, 2011.
The Blue Bomber plate will be the second specialty plate available in the province. In 2004, Manitoba approved the issuing of a specialty licence plate to honour veterans. Following the launch of the Bomber licence plate pilot project, an evaluation will be conducted to determine the possibility of producing licence plates for other community groups or organizations throughout the province.
It's great that MPI has changed their mind after turning the Bombers down in 2009. I wouldn't be surprised if fans contacting Andrew Swan and MPI had a lot to do with their changing their mind.
