Bomber Free Agency Discussion 2024

I suspect the Bomber bean-counters are prepared to head slightly north of $200k to secure Olivera, maybe on a 2 year peace in the valley contract. Olivera pops up in TO, he’d be lucky to get an endorsement from Kim’s Convenience. In Winnipeg, he could easily make up the difference with a couple of endorsement contracts for the likes of eateries, pubs, gyms, etc.

Now we will get to see how much his passing skills have improved. It should be a VERY entertaining season!

The Hallet brothers also return.

We’re ALL happy here Jon.

We must give credit where credit is due… The famed CFL Secret Service and the entirely tax payer funded CFL Submarine which was recently refloated at great expense (not ours thankfully).

Well done Agent @Paolo_X :beaver:

Take it at face value but it looks like John Hodge at 3 Down Nation is reporting that Jackson Jeffcoat is not signing with the Bombers prior to the opening of free agency.

This may be an opportunity for Celestin Haba to expand his role with the team or perhaps looking to sign someone like Malik Carney from the Ti-Cats if Jeffcoat indeed moves on.

Yes it looks like Jeffcoat won’t be in Winnipeg this year. Too bad. My kind of player. But they can’t keep everyone and his recent injury history might have helped them to make that decision. He should get more money than the Bombers can afford to pay him somewhere else.

In other D Line news, the reliable Jake Thomas is back for one more year. And I thought he might retire.

On the first day of free agency (technically the tampering window), it looks like Hardrick is gone. No way the Bombers can match $230,000 per

Hardick is gone! To Sask’n!
Don’t know how the BIg BLue were even able to pay him $190k to $200k last couple years. Bryant got more. Guess the interior o-linemen were basically minimum wage fry cooks?

I think this time you’ve gone too far there Lyle Style. That’s such a harsh take on an otherwise a good point.

Anyway, any ideas for a solution? I’m merely here as a visiting member of the honourable opposition of course, but I do have a vested interest in there being a great Mowing Crew again there in Winnipeg plus so do most of the rest of our ship including also Captain Timbers. I can’t give him an explanation like that you know.

Brady’s back now. That means it sounds to me like that Mowing Crew will be shored up too.

@Lyle_B_Style , what’s your plan now, BROTHER!

That is exciting Brady is back! I feel way better about this season knowing we should have a consistently productive run game.

Pigrome’s college stats suggest he was brought to Winnipeg as the short yardage specialist, his 57% college completion ratio supports this as does his success running the ball throughout his college career.
There are a plethora of QB hopefuls that have shown well in pre-season games but couldn’t translate that success into a career.
I was excited for his potential at first too but ultimately realized that the folks responsible for assessing talent, the one’s who spent many hours with him in meetings and on the practice field probably have a better understanding of his value as a starting QB.
If Ottawa hadn’t been in such dire straights at the time its unlikely he would have been added to their roster.

So excited to see Brady back! I do hope to see some mixed 2nd and short packages this year with Streveler and Brady in the backfield. That would wreak havoc on d-lines.

Side note but it looks like our neighbours are big game hunting! Hardrick, Thurman, and Ouellette so far.

And Toronto is bleeding talent like crazy. The aforementioned Oullette, Pickett, Bede, Leake, Stiggers (NFL), Bladek.

Looks to be another year where most teams turnover their talent which bodes well for the Blue and Gold.

Lots happening in CFL free agancy. Houston has received an offer from Calgary. He is one high profile free agent I opined would not be missed. He’s no Nichols by any stretch. Now we know who to pick on in the secondary when we play Calgary.

As long as it is not Streveler throwing the ball…

Don’t know how they do it but Schoen also remains in the fold. Brady and Dalton are an excellent trade off for Houston and Hardrick in my opinion.

Under the radar so far but let’s not forget that we need a competent place kicker. I’m hoping they find a way to re sign Sergio.
