Kicker Troy Westwood left the Bombers as the franchise’s all-time leading scorer, but his career in Winnipeg was plagued by issues of consistency.Photograph by: Brent Foster, National PostWINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed veteran kicker Troy Westwood to their practice roster.
Westwood was cut by the team during training camp last season after a two-year feud with then head coach Doug Berry.
The Bombers lost punter Mike Renaud for the season due to a torn ACL in the knee of his kicking leg in a win two weekends ago over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Place-kicker Alexis Serna handled the punting and place-kicking duties in Sunday’s 24-21 loss to the B.C. Lions and struggled with both jobs.
It’s believed Westwood will punt while Serna handles place-kicking duties.
