BLUE BOMBERS RELEASE JON OOSTERHUIS

From the Bombers site:

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released non-import fullback Jon Oosterhuis after he failed his physical.

“We’d like to thank Jon for his contributions to the Winnipeg Football Club over the past nine years,? said Vice President and General Manager Joe Mack. “It’s always tough when you have to release a player but it’s even tougher when it’s a veteran and a true professional like Jon. We wish him the best in his future endeavors and have expressed our desire to have him remain with the Club in some capacity.?

Oosterhuis signed with Winnipeg in 2002 after being released by the Calgary Stampeders who selected him 8th overall in the 2002 CFL Canadian Draft. He spent the first seven years of his career on the defensive line, recording 40 defensive tackles and two sacks, before making the switch to fullback in 2009.

Thanks for all you did for the Bombers and best wishes for the future, Jon.

Anyone know why he failed his physical?

Thought I heard something about a problem with his knee??

They have asked him to stay involved with the organization, in some capacity, he was definitely seen as a locker room pressence and could help the younger guys along.

Hope he stays on.

…BIG Jon is a class act…I hope he sticks around in some capacity…Too many miles on those ol pins i guess
