Roy Shivers was a game-changer in professional football for reasons that transcend touchdowns, tackles, X’s and O’s.
The same Rob Vanstone that never gave Roy Shivers an iota of credit for anything when he was gm of Saskatchewan. Such a hypocrite, and such a change of tune since the team hired him to be kind of a half-baked “historian”.

Rob used to be more neutral in his writings about the riders. Critical thinker, and would criticize if he felt warranted, which is rare in the Sask media (Darrel Davis aside who is just critical of everything and come across as jealous).
I think it was a brilliant move by the riders to hire Vanstone and silence the most read riders journalist who was a sometimes critic. I hate to say it but he sold out.
Unpopular opinion but I’d do it too. You have to make your money while you can. I don’t know what the pension plan at the Regina Leader Post is like but I’m hoping that the Riders have a better one.
Agreed. That was my meaning by “I hate to say it” because I don’t like saying anything and about the guy. He spent a lot of years writing about the riders for the paper and published a couple of books as well. The critisicm I saw came in the last few years since Covid and the team stunk - the riders deserved it. I hope he loves the job, and if the riders need to be put in their place in the media I hope someone else will do it - other than Darrel Davis!
