OTTAWA — The Montreal Alouettes went into half time trailing the Ottawa REDBLACKS 17-3 on Saturday night and they knew they needed to play a great second half of football if they wanted to leave TD Place with a win.
When Evans had sunk to his lowest just before the half we saw Cody Fajardo warming up on the sidelines. Then AT HALFTIME our all-knowing Kate Beirness and the CFL panel tossed around the possibility (which was torpedoed by Barker) that Fajardo, tenderized shoulder and all might finish the game.
Fast forward to just seconds left in the 4th and it’s Evans who’s just finished off the Red Blacks with a jaw-droppingly respectable 382 yards in total offense that defied expectations… and broke the hearts of Ottawa fans who’d watched him lose for them for the last two seasons.
What a turnaround for Caleb Evans. That second half will go down as the best so far in this 3rd year quarterback’s CFL career.
Could Caleb Evans be the next CFL starter in Hamilton, a giant trade, in the mid-season or will he join the Cats for 2024? Maybe he is under contract for Montreal in 2024.
