Big day tomorrow (April 7th.)

Just curious what other fans think is the next episode in the saga?

"He-who-shall-not-be-named" may finally enter a plea. And if he does, my guess is this thing is held over for trial in late summer or the fall. Possibly even next spring, which would allow "The Nameless One" to continue to serve as GM for the current season at least. Pressure is mounting however as I hear more and more people who are dissatisfied with the entire "paid leave" scenario which has him just working at home.
Are we allowed to say this much?

Oh and "plead innocent" isn't an option, but "not guilty" is what I expect. It is possible he could plead to a misdemeanor....

innocent, not guilty same thing
plead guilty to misdeameanor well that would be the same as PLEA bargain…

Yeah the whole paid leave vs working from home same thing ?

I know what you meant, but “pleading innocent” really isn’t quite the same as “not guilty”. And it isn’t an accurate choice—not sure if you can fix that option. And yes, if he plea bargains at all, it pretty much must be to a misdemeanor. don’t thnk he will though.
And now I am sure we aren’t supposed to be talking about this… :cowboy:

I tried to fix it but the edit button isn't showing ... :?

There is a 15-30 minute (not sure the actual time) limit that users are allowed to edit their own posts. So I helped you out.

Don’t want to skew your poll but:

Tillman’s lawyer, Aaron Fox, told the Leader-Post on Monday that one of two things could happen today. Either way, Fox predicted “nothing very dramatic? would happen at what is expected to be another “relatively short appearance.?

“The two things that could happen tomorrow (Tuesday) would be, one, it could get set over without plea again,? he said. “That’s a possibility. Or secondly, there could be a not guilty plea entered and then a date set.?

Option 3: The judge gets fed up with the crown's delay tactics and thows out the charges

Option 4: A Not Guilty plea gets entered, but they don't set a date, but set a date for a pre-trial hearing, when they might set a date

And for some reason, WE are the ones that have to be respectful of this BS legal process.

Well, it helps if you understand the process.

First, it's not likely the Crown that's delaying - it would be the defence that is asking for the adjournments. Now, it could be that the Crown has been slow in providing disclosure, thus prompting the adjournments, but it's almost certain that this is being done while the defence exhausts its attempts to reach a resolution that does not involve the entering of a plea. You are correct, however, that without a pretty good basis for a further delay, the Court is probably getting close to mandating that this move along. There may be one more adjournment, but the Court will likely only set it over this time on the understanding that come next time, if a resolution is not presented for approval, a plea will be entered.

You option #4 is impossible. There is no thing called a "pre-trial hearing". What you are referring to, is either a pre-trial conference, or I suspect, a preliminary hearing.

Pre-trial conferences only exist in civil matters, not criminal. As for preliminary hearings, the Crown has elected to proceed summarily, and in summary cases there are no preliminary hearings - matters are set directly to trial. It is only in indictable matters where prelims are scheduled.

Hope this helps.

As a Non Rider poster, I don't think this is a fair thread for Mr. Tillman. The process need to be done fairly. Speculation and opinionated stuff, even by a simple pole is, well, shouldn't be done. I wont be surprised if Head Office locks this thread soon.

Well, if you keep calling Poles simple, they’ll have no choice…

I won't touch that with a ten foot pole..............or a 6 foot Albanian either.

No accusations are being made here. CFL has a team with a GM who is on paid leave while he is defending himself of criminal charges and fans will of course be interested in where and how the matters develop.

However I find it curious that people seem to think that is is "immoral" or "wrong" to discuss a public trial. A process that makes us a great country IMO.

I'd hate my named dragged through the mud.

I know we have our "Checks and balances" in the legal system and stuff, but the really sad part is even if Tillman is 100% completely cleared, there will still be those "whispering" as he walks by.

I really don't know what a fair way or a right way to do things are.

The poll I can take or leave, as with any speculation or public musings on guilt or innocence (since we know almost none of the facts), but there are certainly elements of this matter that are, I believe, legitimate grounds for rational discussion.

I thought you were being sarcastic with your previous post.
Nothing said on these forums will impact the Tillman case. And it is the fact he is on trial publicly that causes the man’s name to be dragged through the mud. The only way to prevent that is to have secret trials behind closed doors. And that takes away the chances of a fair trial, not adds to it.

A sexual assault case against the general manager of the Saskatchewan Roughriders has been pushed back for two weeks.

Eric Tillman was not in court Tuesday, but a lawyer appearing on his behalf asked that the case be adjourned to April 21 to allow for “additional discussions.”

There was no comment from the lawyer outside the provincial courthouse in Regina.

No Arius, not being sarcastic. If anything keep this a secret....( I like Eric Tillman! Liked him here, Likrd him in Ottawa and Saskatchewan) I'm pulling for him that he gets cleared of everything.

I just hate this trial by public poll stuff.

I agree Sporty, trial by public poll is not good. But I don't think thats whats happening here. The poll itself does not ask what they think of Mr. Tillman, rather what they think he was going to do. I can see how some may think that is the same thing, but for myself, when I read the poll I took it at face value, I tried to predict what he would do.
