What does that spreadsheet mean? You've got all these numbers, and nothing that says what the numbers are.
Sorry I explained it a few times and figured it was no longer necessary
There are 25 defensive categories. Mtl is in first in 16 of them and 2nd in 4 of them and so on.
I award 8 points for each 1st place 7 for each second down to 1 for each 8th place finish The ranking is then based on the total points
Any chance you could put like a heading on each column??
There are 25 categories, Billy, and the columns are simply representative of how many categories they placed in positions 1 through 8.....they're already labelled, really, with the first row marked as 1 through 8.
the second section is the points for each place finish
Mtl had 16 first place finishes at 8 points each for 128 points
4 second place finishes at 7 points each for 28 points
then 3rd place and 4th and so on
ooohh. I understand. I bet you had a fun time explaining that to KK
didn't even try!
Its not hard to understand the spreadsheet. I understood it and didnt even have to ask, lol. Ro does a good job putting this together, he deserves credit for a great job, its more understandable than the CFL stats on this site.
Where can i view the 25 categories??
Hey ro,
The stats page you are referring to is out of date. The up to date stats can be viewed here (updated Sunday Aug. 13):
http://www.cfl.ca/stats_pdf/2006/reg.pdfAs well, how do you account for ties in the stat standings? In many cases teams are tied...
mmmm
Where did you get that link?
I used the one under.....the game/stats?
Ill recalculate
It's located on the stats page, at the top, on the left hand side: 'Full League Stats (Printer Friendly)'... I suspect they update the whole file first, then the segments later.
Here are the proper standings
The first 4 stayed the same but the last 4 changed
I think that while Hamilton has given up a few too many points, it can hardly be blamed on the D. Look at the pitiful offense we have to work with.
Looks like you can win some categories by just having a D
that gives up big plays.
or having an offense that coughs the ball up giving the opposing
offense a short field.
I'll look at the rest of the categories tomorrow but not really impressed with the little i saw so far.
Still interesting though, so thanks ro
The best defence of all would have a hard time winning a game in which the offence produces only 2 points or no point at all…
