Ya, has to be some big suspension(s) there. But, again - it seemed to be building all game.

As with all these messy scrums it’s pretty hard to know the truth of what exactly happened and we may never know. Lots of things went down quickly and there will no doubt be many biased accounts of what occurred.

I have read that the Lion player allegedly “trying” to get into the Als locker room was talking with an Als player he was friends with. I don’t know whether he tried to get into the locker room and trash talk the Als and be a sore winner or whether he just calmly was walking that way talking to his friend.

I have also read that the Als player started the physical altercation by trying to attack the BC player allegedly entering the locker room, but was held back by his teammates at which time the BC player hit him.

It was a mess and not a good look for either team or the league. A good argument for having benches on opposite sides of the field. We’ll probably never know what happened short of an inquiry that won’t be held, but hopefully the league will give us a straight and honest answer on their take once they have looked into it. In other sports (baseball and hockey for sure) normally both coaches would be disciplined for failing to control their players. We’ll see what happens.

We weren’t discussing Lawler & you decided to bring him into the conversation. It doesn’t have anything to do with either Castillo or Whyte. If you want to bring him into this thread okay. I’ll tell you what I’ve said before.

Lawler the past 3 seasons has never played more than 12 games. When you are unable to participate for 1/3 of the season, to requote myself “whether by injury or misadventure”, then you are not going to be the best receiver in the CFL. Kenny MAY make the most spectacular catches, but he only plays parts of the seasons. As they say, the best “ability” is "avail"ability. I don’t see any way Lawler could be considered the best receiver in the CFL last year when he ranked 28th among receivers, no matter if he caught a dozen balls with his teeth. Showmanship & results are two different things & you get rated by results, not the CFL’s version of a dunking contest, should they initiate such a thing.

AND, this is where you come in, Jon. In 2022 there was an ongoing discussion on who should be MOP - Rourke or Zach. Rourke was on pace for 6,000 yds when he got injured. You made the case for Zach BASED upon the fact Nathan shouldn’t be considered for the award because of his inability to contribute on the field for 8 games. I completely agreed with you. You should be applying the same rules to Kenny, no??

As a footnote, Lawler puts in one great game & is already mouthing off about his greatness to the press. How soon before his 3rd proclamation of getting 2,000 yds. It would be nice if Kenny ONCE lived up to his own lofty self. There was a reason the Bombers never spent the money for him with the increase in the the CAP. Rumour has it they had enough of the Kenny Show.

Doesn’t matter he gave himself up

[/quote Not the only gaffe. Montreal gets so many kudos for their execution, attention to detail...yadda, yadda, yadda. Well late in the game, they made at least 3 game-losing plays. I am not sure if they had a time-out remaining....however, on their FG, the snap occurred with 3 or 4 seconds left on the play-clock...dumb!!! Then a stupid, selfish, penalty....doesn't matter if it was retaliation, or not. dumber!!! then, on second last play, if they had a time-out, they should have used it to get everybody to get their head out of their a$$. The only way BC gets that play in is a short pass. And, as you mentioned, let the guy lay there for a half second. Dumbest!!! If it is a pass to the flat, doesn't matter, air time on an out takes too long. These guys are professionals, they shouldn't need such basic reminders. And, ya, it does matter because he didn't just catch the ball and fall down, he actually stumbled forward for a few steps. No stripe, in that situation, is going to blow the play dead until he gets touched, or it becomes obvious that he isn't trying to advance the ball....that indecision would have taken more than 2 tenths of a second.

JON, don’t you think that suspensions should be mandatory? The CFL needs to send a message that this $hit will not be tolerated.
.

So, JON, why did the BB bail on Lawler?
Maybe pantonfire said it best about Lawler. BB tired of the show. Team first, me second, was never in his vocabulary, and nobody needs a distraction. Too bad, cuz he knows how to catch a ball.

Salary cap reasons apparently and they also have Schoen, but you’ll have to ask management and O’Shea.

Do I think suspensions are in order for the two brawlers? Yes. Do I think there will be any? No.

Not fair to Masoli- has he recovered from the Gareth Marino injury ?

if he isn’t then it’s on him because he’s wasting the roster spot of someone who is healthy and hurting his team by doing it. i like the guy, but his performance his been so dreadful it’s sad to watch. cut him off the playing roster and put a headset on him.
