Lobendahn is the better linebacker and younger. When Simpson went out last year, the Bombers never missed a beat because Lobendahn was that good. Using Kelly as a reason is just an excuse. What is best for the Bombers? A rotation. What gives the Bombers the best chance to succeed in the future? A rotation where a younger player is rotated in more often, usually at the expense of an older player. Kelly may have done some stupid things, but this isn't one of them. Of course, so many people hate Kelly right now that they will grab every chance they can to dump on him. Especially the Winnipeg media.
The only starting LB we got off releases was Otis Floyd, and he's playing amazing. He's not a complainer either, and he's a true leader on defence. With the CFL's leading tackler Jamall Johnson and the ball hawk Markeith Knowlton, we're pretty solid there. No need for Simpson.
Barrin Simpson has been, to me, a heart-soul-and-fire kind of player. Being a Bomber fan is so tough these days … there’s just so little to feel proud about as the organization makes one low-class move after another. Simpson brought class, he brought professionalism, and he brought hope to a team that basically had none. The rest of the defence bought into Simpson’s vision of what a pro ball player should be and for that, as a lifelong Bomber fan, I just want to say thanks so much for wearing blue and gold Barrin. I just wish you could outlast Hammerhead Kelly’s tenure. It’s him who should be leaving town, not you. What a total bummer.
Wierd!I was hoping everyone would get healthy, then we they could sit Simpson and heal the the turf toe thing thats been bugging him all year.I know why would I sit him when he's been playing great and not a 100%,imagine if he was 100% how much better he could be for the team.As much as I like the guy and as great as he been playing, this toe thing looks like its been really slowing him down.I wouldnt have rotated him,I would just sit him for the better of himself and the team.I mean if the turf toe got worse and we lost him while fighting for a playoff spot late in the year, some of us would complain that we should have sat him earlier. It's a no win situation for fans I think.
Just curious, how many of you have critisized players in the past who have demanded to be traded because they felt their role was being diminished or that they weren't playing enough (recent example: Dany Heatley)? Did you say things like the player was being selfish and not a team player, etc?
As it has been pointed out this is not the first time Barrin Simpson has objected to the idea of a rotation.
Personally I would have liked Simpson to stay a Bomber but he chose to ask for a trade. He chose to put his own interests ahead of the team's. When he says that not playing him every down means the Bombers don't want to win that is a slap in the face to his teammates IMO.
lets ease the shock a bit.....Barrin is a very good linebacker and 31....Joe Lobendahn is 28 and also a very good linebacker....plus has made more tackles than Simpson in the last few games... The Bombers coaching staff wants Joe to play more..hmmmmmm.. something to ponder...
also....Simpson requested a trade last year....when he returned from his injury....confirmed by Lyle Bauer.......apparently his move now, isn't all that shocking......
Now thats funny!
Ah Yes, another Coach, soon to be punted out of Winnipeg. What was that Coaches name that took them to the Grey Cup recently…Oh yeah Doug Berry…Must be having a chuckle to himself at his replacement.
...if its a win on Sunday sport....i wouldn't count on Kelly getting turfed.....at least not in the forseeable future..I guess Wally must be feeling a little more comfortable now....but after this weekend..the torches might be re-lit
Even if BC loses every game (But they wont, we play Toronto and Winnipeg) for the rest of the year, Wally’s job is safe. We all knew this year is a rebuilding year. Anybody else tells you different has been smoking way too much funny stuff.
But the revolving door continues in Winnipeg. Crisis after crisis. This week this player, next week that player. Who’s next. I tip my hat to the Bomber faithful for putting on a brave face, but deep down you got to be shaking your head over Coach Kelly.
Like I said, Doug Berry must have a grin from ear to ear some where.
Stats mean nothing.I think Bishop proved that with his first 300yd game-lol,and I’m one of those ppl who dont like a player leading the league in tackles,to me it means the defence has been on the field too much.
What I mean is when I watch him run,he looks like he has lost a step because of his turf toe,im not saying he has lost anything in his play otherwise.
And yes I still would make him sit out a game to get him 100% even if Ballin Barrin doesnt agree with it,sometimes I’ll agree with kelly, and sometimes I wont, but nobody better lump me in with the Kelly lovers, cause I’m on the fence just like every coach that has come before and after him.
Bob Irving had reported yesterday that there is a possible reconciliation going on between the Bombers and Simpson. I've been told by a fan who was at the Bombers fan appreciation day today that Simpson was there signing autographs and seemed pretty happy. That can put more fuel on the reconciliation story since it is doubtful Simpson would have been there otherwise.
…Don’t count on getting at easy 2 in our park there sport…but we’ll be counting on you guys folding the rest of the way…rebuild or no rebuild…we might have to set another record against ya…
oh and by the way…we’re glad ‘fuming on the players Berry’ is exactly where he is
